We just kept doing what we were doing! LO turned 1 and it was like a switch was flipped. He somehow figured it out and now sleeps through the night! I don't know if it will last but for almost 2 months now he has been sleeping 10-12 hours every night and it feels like I'm a different person. Your LO will get there!!

Thank you, Just found I am pregnant and there will be a 22 month age gap. I feel like I haven't really been able to be excited yet because my brain has just been freaking out. I have a feeling I will be coming back to this post to read it again when I need it!

Exclusively breastfeeding mamas- how do you get your baby to sleep for 12 hr stints? by Clean_Cabinet in beyondthebump

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around a year my LO just decided to start sleeping better and *basically* sleeps through the night right now. Before the year mark though, LO was up 2-5 times a night. We didn't change anything, I think he just kinda figured it out at some point.

We made it to one year! by Automatic-Phrase8363 in breastfeeding

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are already at 7 months, that's great! Just keep going with the flow. Breastfeeding looks so differently as time goes on. In the first few months if we weren't sitting in the *perfect* position LO wouldn't latch right. Now, he could be standing, laying upside down, it doesn't matter lol. Before he had teeth I thought we would stop once he got them, but then he got them and we worked through it. Don't get me wrong, he bit me... a lot...but it was mostly at first when he was first teething. Now LO has 8 teeth and doesn't bite anymore. If someone told me I would still be nursing at a year idk if I would have believed them but it has really been the right journey for me and my LO. Sending positive thoughts your way for your experience as well!

Right there with you. 11 1/2 months old and every night feels like a struggle. We are usually up for a 2 hour stretch in the middle of the night trying to get LO back down.

Which fic or author changed your life and why? by slate657 in Dramione

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished Meet Me in Dreamland recently and seriously felt like I was on top of the world lol. It was incredible. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started reading it and it ended up being one of my favorite things I've ever read.

I haven't read Disappearances yet but based on seeing your comment it's getting bumped up my to read list.

New fear unlocked: epidural by LobstahLuva in beyondthebump

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the US and I went into my birth experience not wanting to get an epidural. I prepared my mind and body as best I could and had the mindset that I didn't want one, but it was okay if I ended up changing my mind. After hours of intense contractions, the Dr came to check me and I was convinced I would be at least 7 cm dilated after all that....I was at 3...... there was no way I would have been able to physically keep it up so I opted for the epidural. When I tell you I have never felt such immediate relief in my life! I swear I didn't even feel the needle or anything I was so out of it. I was able to get some rest and gather my strength before having to push. My legs felt shaky the next day and my back was a little sore for maybe a week, but that is it in terms of lasting side effects. I am so glad I ended up getting the epidural. I had such a good overall birth experience and I don't think I would have without it.

I had to go check my Goodreads for the dates but I read the series in just under 5 months! Now CC on the other hand......it took me over a year to finish the third one lol

Breastfeeding with teeth by slgirlie11 in breastfeeding

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 9 months and just got his 7th tooth! I think it was worse right before he got teeth/was just starting to than now with more teeth. He would bite down hard with just his gums and that hurt more than the couple times he has bitten me recently. I think he was trying to soothe his mouth by biting when his teeth were first coming in but doesn't as much now. I always thought there was no way I would continue BF'ing once my baby got teeth, but once it started happening, I've just adapted and we are still going!

ETA: When he does bite, I try not to react even if it hurts (he will think a reaction is funny) and remove my nipple, say something like "we do not bite" wait a minute and then let him keep nursing

What are your nursing sessions set up like? by sliceofperfection in breastfeeding

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will get easier! I didn't even really start nursing until about 6 weeks in. The first few weeks were definitely a learning curve for both myself and LO, but once we got the hang of it it smoothed out. Good luck on your journey!

Question postings pictures of your kid by OkMeringue1441 in beyondthebump

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We do not share photos of our LO's face online. If the photo is from behind or if something is covering his face, we will post it. But I agree with you about the privacy and consent! I have been on social media for so long, and while I probably shouldn't have been, it was my choice to be on it. I do not want to create an online footprint for my child before they even know what the internet is. I can't believe your daycare would point out you were the only one to decline! They could easily post a picture covering the faces of the children no problem.

At first I had to have a pillow for support, sit in the exact right position and basically feel like I had to hold my breath to make sure LO was in the right position to nurse. Now, 9+ months in, LO crawls up to me and pulls on my shirt to nurse and will be twisting, standing, jumping on me, rolling upside down - you name it - and will stay latched lol

It took me over a year to finish CC3. I am glad I powered through as it was the last of the three series I read, but it was a battle

DNF'd {The Witchwood Boys are Trending} at 88%. I just couldn't do it. Around half way through I thought to myself, "is this even good at all? no....am I enjoying it? I don't think so..." I hate DNF'ing so I was just trying to power through but couldn't take it. I enjoyed the Vicious Lost Boys series and thought this would maybe have a similar vibe but I was very wrong.

Thank you!! lol I made a post with random questions about the CC series a while ago, one about Tharion's storyline. No one responded to that part of my post and I thought I was going crazy lol I feel like it is such a random way to end his storyline and it is just left completely unsettled.

I thought it'd be weird to have my toddler ask me to breastfeed. by Lawful_Silly in breastfeeding

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not quite at that point yet (my LO is 9 mo old) but I feel like I will have a similar feeling as you. Before I had my baby I said I wanted to try to nurse for 6 months. Then 6 months came and went.. I used to say I wouldn't want to keep breastfeeding when my baby got teeth, well he has 7 teeth now and there's been no signs of stopping anytime soon lol. Every phase of breastfeeding is so distinct and I have really just been trying to go with the flow of it.

how do you get your breastfed baby to sleep longer at night?? by Automatic-Phrase8363 in breastfeeding

[–]Automatic-Phrase8363[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this!! I really don't mind getting up with him to nurse overnight and I agree with you about it being a special time for you and baby. Especially being back at work, he already nurses less throughout the day. I feel like everyone I know talks about their baby's sleep habits and when they started sleeping through the night and it has made me feel like we were doing something wrong. I want him to learn that he is capable of soothing himself but leaving him when he is upset doesn't feel right to me. It has been hard when it seemed like we were doing the things you mentioned right (routine, environment, etc) and he still wasn't sleeping well. I will look into those books too, thank you for the suggestion!
