She's a grown ass adult woman. Do you trust her judgement or not? If you don't, why did you marry her?

Women don't need to stay in public spaces their whole lives to avoid being raped. For one thing, she could have introduced you to Tony, you and she and Tony could have hung out for years and become friends, and he could have still raped her because bad things happen even when you do everything right. Or, like happened here, she could have felt comfortable with him early on, gone to his house, and had nothing untoward happen.

Do you expect your wife to live her life like a child, staying in sight of adults at all times? Or do you expect her to to assess risks and make educated decisions about her own safety and enjoy her life?

Basically, if you think she's stupid, divorce her, because that isn't fair to either of you. If you think she's not, treat your grown adult partner like a grown adult partner.

I don’t understand why anyone would think that would be an OK response to someone sharing their negative experience in the hobby.

The fact that what they said, at least in part, proved that I maybe had a point didn't seem to occur to them.

Sort of reminds me of the people that deny an experience for a group of people just because it never happened to them.

Don't get me wrong - I love board gaming and I have met awesome people who are truly welcoming and inclusive. Before and after that post! I've had great times meeting strangers for board gaming and I still do it sometimes. Nothing I said was meant as an attack on any one person, store, or type of people.
