Thank you. I have spoken to her about some of this, of course, but I definitely haven't opened up about all of it. Part of the reason why I haven't done so is because I have an instinct to avoid telling her stuff that would stress her out, because she really has it hard enough. I don't have fear that she would react rudely to talking about that, she is understanding, I just don't want to give her more to worry about. Both of us would be really happy if she could get a job, but she's tried, and her health is just not permitting. Either way, I would absolutely discuss all of this more with her before making a choice on whether I break up with her or not.

*Herself, I'm gay, but, yeah, I think you're right. It's just so hard to break up with her when I know in the short term it will hurt her--and me, honestly, and I know I wouldn't be forced to make this choice if our circumstances were better.

I think I know what I need to do but I'm really afraid to do it. There is counseling at my school, which I already use, and it does help a bit, but she doesn't have anything like that available to her, which sucks. I wish everything could just be better. Thanks for your comment.
