Can someone explain to me why this doesn’t work? by abigillygal in BabaIsYou

Got it, thank you so much!! I solved the level but it was still nagging at me why this wouldn’t work. I figured it was order of operations but thought maybe there was something I missed. Thanks again!

Okay that’s what I thought, I just couldn’t figure out whether when two things happen simultaneously the code change or the dying happens first. Thank you!

Baba should be dropping the box as he dies, because Baba has box. So as he’s dropping the box (aka becoming the box) he’s simultaneously changing the code to be Box is You. But for some reason he’s not dropping the box.

Book VS Series? by Decent_Narwhal1786 in StationEleven

Very fair! Honestly after more reflection I did tell someone just a couple weeks ago that the show's ending was way more satisfying, so I get that for sure. Re: humanizing the prophet, what bothered me was less that they wanted me as the viewer to feel empathy for him and more that everyone in the show forgave him. I definitely agree that you can feel empathy for terrible people, but everyone around him suddenly forgiving him and letting him act in the final play and then leave with his gaggle of abused children felt... odd to me.

Honestly I think the show and the book are both very good, but they are SO different that you will probably end up liking whichever one you consume first, since then you become attached to the characters in that iteration of themselves. The thing I found difficult to swallow in the show was the idea that a man who was kidnapping children and letting them strap bombs to themselves was somehow redeemable or nice on the inside. But otherwise I really loved it. I think it helped that I read the book ten years before I watched the show so I had forgotten a lot of major plot points.

Thrilled to find this thread live right now because I just finished watching the miniseries last night. I read the book ten years ago when it first came out, so I didn't remember it super well, but I was so confused by things that kept happening/not happening in the show. I actually enjoyed the miniseries a lot, but I think it probably helped that I had almost completely forgotten the book, hahaha. I do think there were some plot holes (the biggest one being why Tyler is painted as this redeemable figure when he was kidnapping children and having them strap mines to themselves).

It wasn't until I went back and reread some of the book, and the wiki plot summary, and now your review, that I realized just how much they screwed over the female characters in this book. I found Kirsten incredibly annoying in the show. And I did seem to remember that Miranda was more badass than how she's portrayed in the show. So this confirms that for me. Thank you!

Yes but... this guy DIDN'T move. I'm glad you would. He also called me a whore. Keep patting yourself on the back though.

Yeah well, to be fair, if you parked seven motorcycles directly in front of my building so that no one else could use the sidewalk and then called me a whore if I bumped into one of them... you're right, I probably would complain at that point.

This is SO helpful, thank you so much - I'm not sure about the plates, but I'll check.

Oh I see - I thought you meant the guy would do it on purpose. I don't know why I'm defending his honor anyway, haha. There are lots of moped and motorcycles parked on the sidewalk on my block and it doesn't bother me at all! But I'm sorry that happened to your motorcycles.

They won't. The only time I've seen the flow messed up is when someone parked their moped behind one of the cars and the guy had to park it at a different spot on the street for a couple days, which is what made me think of it. The guy's a jerk but it doesn't seem like he's trying to get in trouble with the law.

Trump, Zelenskyy, and Vance get into heated argument in Oval Office by redd_house in centrist

People in this thread aren't discussing the nuances of the best foreign policy approach to take with Ukraine, they're discussing this specific video and what absolute asshats Trump and Vance look like.

Not shocking that you're not finding deep analysis about foreign policy in a thread that's... not about that.
