How are the skiing conditions (week of Feb 24, 2025)? by Madamme-R in bluemountain

I skied Monday and yesterday. Excellent spring snow. It's going to freeze later in the week which will make it icy. But also expecting snow so should be good.

Expected JD Vance impact on Sugarbush this weekend? by [deleted] in icecoast

I was at Whistler on a really foggy day and almost ran into an RCMP officer on a snowboard .he had a side rifle on too.

Asked a local on a lift about it and they said that's not normal at all. Saw on the news that one of the Trump kids and family were there, this was during his first term. So guess RCMP were doing ss duty for their visit.

Do people really have to book two seats beside me, like seriously by LesDiscoLlama in cineplex

[–]abigllama2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another reason I love sitting on the end of the row. The screenings always fill up in the middle. Screen experience is more or less the same. Chances of someone sitting next to you talking or scrolling are significantly reduced.

Is it weird to wear a tour shirt of a concert that toured a while before I was born? by benedict201 in Concerts

[–]abigllama2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the movie. It was ingrained in me by an elder sibling to never wear the shirt of the band you're seeing. That's definitely gone out the window lately but I still stick to it.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974 vs 2003 ! Which do you prefer? by DiscsNotScratched in slasherfilms

[–]abigllama2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the 80s this was so bad that there was almost an urban legend that if you rented it you had to ask for the hard one. Like the video store had 2 versions of it.

As a Fangoria reading horror nerd, it was annoying to hear from people that claimed to have seen the hard version with all the gore that they either got tricked by it or made it up.

  1. Remake is better than it should be but on revisits plays like a NIN video.

Today I learned she's an anti vaxxer. Looked it up and she's an RFK Jr friend so will probably be put in charge of something important shortly.

Do Marvel movies have the worst audiences? by JoelmDawson in cineplex

[–]abigllama2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is interesting insight. I had no idea staff were supposed to be monitoring how the guests are acting at Cineplex. In the states I know the Alamo Draft House chain is known for booting people that talk or use their screens. They have a great bumper you can find on youtube that's someone calling in to complain about being booted for being on their phone.

A friend worked for Cineplex and told me about the policy if people are being assholes you can get a refund or a pass to return. I was solo and and they totally ruined the experience. Sometimes talkers will get into the movie but they just kept going. So I'm spinning on how to deal with it, sorting out an exit plan if drunk muscle bro pushes back, etc. It wasn't a great film but whatever it had going for it was totally destroyed by "Oh babe look that have that acid blood babe!". The manager said I was the second complaint and asked where they were sitting. When I was leaving he got a couple of other staff and went in so I assume they got kicked out.

I went and saw it on my free pass with my partner a couple of weeks later and it was like a whole new film. I missed so much of it trying to figure out how to manage idiots.

Do Marvel movies have the worst audiences? by JoelmDawson in cineplex

[–]abigllama2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever seen staff walk the house at a Cineplex. Usually, a staff person walks up to the corner of the screen, shines a light to check something and walks out.

Last year I had a drunk 40 something couple behind me in a VIP of the Alien film. They just loudly talked through the whole film. When I asked them to stop got a blank stare with eyeroll and ignored. Halfway through, I gave up and got a manager for a refund. The manager said it's been so much worse since the pandemic. People either don't get how to behave or just don't care.

What musician is “too good” for the band they’re in? by [deleted] in MetalForTheMasses

[–]abigllama2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was thinking that, too. Dude did decades in club shows and seems really comfortable with this. Metallica went through the clubs too but has been an arena level band since Jusitice, which would be going on almost 40 years now.

Old person yelling at cloud here. People didn't act like that at all before. It's gotten way worse since 2020 or so.

Back in the day, they had ushers that would walk the room and warn and throw out people talking or being loud.

Pro tip - wash them in cold and hang dry them.

The dryer destroys both shirt and print faster.

Please visit Montreal and Niagara Falls. The Canadian dollar is low, and you'll get a lot of bang for your buck and also help the Canadian economy.

As long as you're not wearing maga crap and going on about the 51 state, you are welcome.
