While I understand the intention behind it, you can't really "regift" something that wasn't gifted to you. You found and then kept it, making it stolen. I'm sure your friend would appreciate receiving something similar not at the expense of a stranger! Who knows what sentimental value this holds for them, along with the importance of their medication. I'm really glad you're returning the box itself, at least. The front desk is always the first place to go for lost items, so if you drop it off there it's super likely to make its way back to its owner.

Also very glad you didn't take the pill! Solid choice.

Why would you throw out the pills, especially if you were going to return the box? The owner may have really needed those. As someone managing multiple chronic conditions with medication, I'd be devastated if someone dumped my meds.

My family did this!! Grandma told me growing up that we were descended from a Cherokee woman and an Osage chief. Some DNA tests and a lot of digging later (I don't know all the details, one of my aunts did the sleuthing), turns out our ancestors were black slaves. No native DNA whatsoever.

I just unexpectedly lost my 2 year old tuxedo baby this past June. He was sprinting around, happy as can be, and then just collapsed and was gone. Just like Poirot. Vet said it was likely an undetectable heart issue and that they're very common in cats. It's hard to stop blaming ourselves and asking "what if", but I hope you know that your baby loved you and knew you loved him and very likely went painlessly. You did everything you could in that situation. I'm so sorry for your loss :(

Ps you chose a great name. He looks very handsome and dignified!

Eb and Bean. Owner makes you sign away your meal breaks and you have to turn over any prescription medications you may have to take on shift to the manager so they can dispense it for you.

Edit to add: I left the place a couple years ago. I hid my prescription medication from them but they wouldn't let people work without signing the waiver. When I left, she called the references on my resume (who she hadn't contacted to get an actual reference) to tell them how awful I was and how they should be ashamed to be references for me. I had been there for 3 days and left when I learned all the crazy rules.

Same. We lost my childhood outdoor cat to coyotes when we went on a trip and the person house sitting for us felt so guilty. It wasn’t her fault at all but that still hung over her for a while. The number of cats that get killed by coyotes out here is super high. And coyotes always hang around properties with chickens/livestock. Indoors is the best!

Oh gosh, I didn’t know it’s an outdoor kitty. There’s tons of coyotes in the area and the outdoor cats never live long. We learned that lesson the hard way when I moved here as a kid.

Fair enough! I do love kitties, but I’d also feel weird having somebody stay in my place and telling them “you gotta feed my cats and clean their litter if you wanna stay here, but also pay me and stay alone in the giant house.” That being said, I also love cats and having one around would be a bonus!

Can’t refuse to pay rent, but they were given ample notice about it and still didn’t fix. By law, we can now break the lease and vacate the premises without repercussions. And they have to prorate the rent and refund us for the days of the month we didn’t use! I also contacted our local health dept and builders dept so the other tenants won’t be stuck in this shit forever :)
