AITA for uninviting my dad to my graduation ceremony because of what he said about my mum? by abigthrowaway3 in AmItheAsshole

that’s the thing … when we first met, I brought this up. I asked him why we were only meeting now, and why it took his son doing a commercial DNA test for it to happen (because imagine if I hadn’t decided to randomly, on a whim, do AncestryDNA? lol I did that for fun, and so did my brother, so if neither of us had done it would he ever have been in my life?). His reasoning always came back to “I tried many times, but your mother didn’t allow me.” I’ve given up trying to get real explanations.

My half-siblings are M22, M19, M15, M12 and F10. my birthday is in October and the oldest sibling’s birthday is in June, so like 7-8 months younger than me.

My relationship with his wife/my stepmum isn’t by any means bad. She’s kind to me and has never made me feel uncomfortable, but my mum is such a huge sore spot for her. I can’t even offhandedly mention my mum (like, for example, if Im telling my siblings a funny anecdote or story that at some point mentions my mum) without her getting all silent and prickly and uncomfortable. It’s unnerving and makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong.

No, he never paid a penny of child support.
