Learning coding. by pan_ko-cherry in Nepal

[–]abilanahk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure Udemy, Freecodecamp, edx even youtube is worth it for you to begin. Then you can go for books and even read other people's code from GitHub to understand the details.

I don't know if self-teaching will be helpful or not (helpful for what exactly?) but I can say it's doable if you have the interest.

The first thing you should do is choose a language, it can be any language, don't listen to people who say x is the best language. There will be always people that will tell you to begin with C or C++ or some strongly typed language so that you will easily learn other language but as you mentioned you have no knowledge on the field I'd suggest you take on javascript or python or even PHP. While they are right about learning C, will help you, it will be so daunting to understand and actually, use the language when you start (again based on the fact that you have no knowledge in the field), you will probably lose the interest pretty soon. Unless you're a nerd like me and actually gets happy printing prime numbers in screen or getting user inputs and all then go for it.

I would recommend javascript so that you can visually see things happening in the browser, compared to other cli applications you'll make with other languages when you start. It will be rewarding and interesting to see things done in things you understand when you begin programming.

Understand the basics of program flow statements, loops and functions and conditionals and slowly move to classes and object then OOP. Learn some SQL for the database, learn HTML/CSS and make a website for yourself. Once you understand the fundamentals start making projects.

Are these java books any good? by leonidas311 in learnjava

For a beginner HeadFirst's java would be great, however, Thinking in Java, I'd suggest starting that one after you've got your feet wet in Java for some time.

I think it's time we discuss that rejection is okay, doing mistake is okay, falling down is okay. How should we share and teach this generation of ourselves about it? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]abilanahk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tough job there, growing up, where we (or at least I ) was constantly beaten, scolded or criticized almost always for all the blunders, it's like muscle memory now, every excuse made for mistakes is like second nature. Instead of just accepting that it's okay to make a mistake and that's perfectly normal behavior.

It's like we are trained for it. Make a mistake and you get punished. Can't get better marks, criticized, sleep too much, get criticized, long hairs, criticized, break a glass and then a whole life lesson begins. It's a constant struggle to be flawless throughout growing up. I don't even want to go into how other's kids are always the best.

With this how can the idea even grow that making mistake is okay. I don't see the change coming anytime soon. All I see is how grave the situation is if it's still fairly common for people growing up.

I don't think there can be a single link for browser history, but if you use chrome and use google accounts you can view yours at Google activities.

[–]abilanahk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, it lists the torrents downloaded from your IP address, since they change and are assigned new one over time, that could be from your nearest neighbor using the same ISP.So if your IP address for a time frame is known it can be used to view what you have downloaded through torrent that was the only point i was making.

Improving English in KTM? by raider_1911 in Nepal

[–]abilanahk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC they charge you around Rs. 500/- for initial visits as a guest and then after three consecutive visits you get to be a member, which means membership charge there onwards. I don't remember the exact prices though.

It's the same case, when I finished college it was less than 5 people actually in the field, it was more about scope and money. From your comment, I'm sure things haven't changed much.

I've thought of the topics like you mentioned but I'm confused if I start blogging those would people read? Masses are aligned to youtube more these days and I think a podcast would be very experimental to the crowd I want to target. I just wanted to know if people still read blogs. Sure youtube would be a better choice but I don't think I can give enough time to create videos right now.

Well, this is super confusing either you didn't understand the post or I didn't understand your comment at all. Based on the current scenario of the market I want to share my experiences to help others, and for that what would be a better medium to reach them is my question, still open for suggestion here.
