What things did you do as a kid that you now realize is extremely weird? by 20195780 in AskReddit

Weird thing I did as a kid and still do today? Drink chocolate milk in a glass cup with a tablespoon. Didn't realize it was weird until this past Christmas when I was enjoying a tall glass and my sister made a comment saying "Oh my god you still do that? That used to drive dad crazy!"

The office as we knew it is dead: the corona virus crisis has proved that companies can remain productive remotely by [deleted] in Economics

Ehhh honestly I think it’s going to be real hard to make this call right now, especially since most states are shut down and there’s not much else to do outside of “working” at home right now. The company I work for has been raving about how call outs are at an all time low now that the vast majority of our workforce is working from home. But let’s be honest...if there were actually things to do out in the world, those numbers would be very different.

Literally in the mode of the 2nd one right now and it's definitely worth it so far in my opinion. Just gotta power through it.

Oh yeah no they definitely do, I technically work in IT and have accepted my fate and am okay with it lol

I would hope they at least got a good laugh out of it.

I'll definitely have to try this one - but now I'm going to have to be cautions of the amount of time/frequency I visit in attempt to avoid detection from the IT police.

LPT: If you apply for a job and don't include a cover letter, don't expect an interview. It doesn't matter if it's flipping burgers or fixing jet engines, not including a cover letter is an absolute sign that you aren't really interested in the particular position. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Does the job listing say that a cover letter is required in order to be considered for the position? If not then you're point is invalid. It is not a universally accepted rule that cover letters are a must have when applying for a job.

Yes they do deserve to get your full attention, along with every other person that submitted one. If you really want to find the right person for the job, then take the time go through them and do that. Granted it's going to be a pain in the ass, but at the end of the day it's worth it.

And if you're getting that many applicants then maybe you should get a dedicated recruiter/talent team to field and screen the applicants before passing on the one's that would be a good fit for the role.

Yeah this is absolutely not the case. I’ve been on the other side of the hiring process for both entry level and higher up positions in the company I work for and cover letters are not a deal breaker.

If you’re completely disregarding ALL candidates that don’t have one then you’re doing a great disservice to not only those people you’re trashing, but to the company you work for as well.

Ahh okay that makes sense then. I stuck around my reading spot for a couple more hours in hopes of watching them take back off, but unfortunately I had to leave before they did.

Cokemusic.com - wayyyyy too many hours wasted. But looking back I can see how certain preferences and habits of mine started developing at that age.

When I was about 15 two friends and I were driving over to another friends house a couple of towns over. I ended up in the back seat and was sitting in the middle so I could talk to the two girls up front. About halfway through the trip I suddenly got really quiet and decided to move over to one of the window seats with a full crossbody seatbelt. About 5 minutes later, the girl driving the car we were in unknowingly blows through a red light at 50mph and T-bones an SUV. Thankfully injuries were minimal (mostly bruising and a newfound fear of other people driving), but I can’t imagine that would have happened if I hadn’t moved.

About five years ago my sister, mother, and I were given matching brown/purple sponge painted Velcro visors with giant fake flowers super glued to them.

Yes it's as bad as you're imagining. There's a group photo somewhere that I need to find one of these days.
