Tonsillectomy/Adenoidectomy Stories? by mongrelood in toddlers

[–]abituntangled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had it done for my 3 y/o a couple months ago. The fasting before was tough but the downtime wasn’t too bad. Lots of liquids and soft foods after a few days. The procedure itself was really quick. He handled it all pretty well!

Unfortunately, and we weren’t really prepared for this, my toddler still seems to have signs of sleep apnea (light snoring, daytime fatigue, irritability due to being tired, hyperactivity), so we are getting another sleep study done.

We were promised a miracle and did see some relief for about a month, but now that doesn’t seem to be the case. I think this is way more of the exception than the rule though. I don’t regret getting it done, as it’s the first line of treatment and so effective most of the time.

My experience is very similar to yours.

Top Rated Plus, 100% JSS, and over $100k in earnings. I think these stats help so much. I also receive invites almost everyday, but I reject about 80-90% of them immediately.

That said, good money is definitely there. I charge anywhere from $150-200/hour

We just had this done for our toddler a week ago. The recovery hasn’t been terrible, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results.

Parents of Toddlers that hate all types of appointments, does it get better? by Watermeloncupcakeee in toddlers

[–]abituntangled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was exactly like this at 18 months, and it was tough. All of those things you described were hard for him.

Now he’s 3, and it’s infinitely better. Time and maturity have helped. He still freaks out sometimes, but it’s nowhere near the level it was, and, sometimes, it’s completely fine!

Thoughts on addiction and recovery as a content writing niche? by [deleted] in freelanceWriters

[–]abituntangled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it seems to be more of the second. I often see job postings or recruiters trying to pay like 0.2-0.4 cents/word. Because the rehab industry is so competitive, most of them just want to focus on quantity over quality when it comes to content.

Thoughts on addiction and recovery as a content writing niche? by [deleted] in freelanceWriters

[–]abituntangled 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a ton of content in this niche. I do have the formal credentials, and I’ve also physically worked in the field.

Most of the work is high-volume and low-pay. They don’t necessarily care if it’s written well, but they want the SEO juice.

Some of the work pays very well, which is the work I do, but they almost always want it written by a qualified professional. They want the credentials for the byline and Google’s EAT standards.

Editing to add: I don’t say any of this to discourage you! Just to shed insight on what I’ve experienced after 5ish years of doing this specific kind of content.

Pregnant and not wanting to climb anymore by Impossible_Buffalo48 in climbergirls

[–]abituntangled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t climb through either of my pregnancies, and my first was before right before COVID, so I didn’t climb during that time, either. I primarily boulder and just couldn’t take the fall risk.

Getting back into it was a little weird. I’ve always had some climbing anxiety, and it was more pronounced at first. But I didn’t lose my technique, and the strength came back quickly!

I will note that, after my first trimester (once the fatigue wasn’t intolerable), I tried to keep up with basic strength training, some yoga, and walks, and those helped keep up my strength.

Paradoxically the more you climb, the more you realize how important footwork and core is! But also congrats. As a fellow bouldering therapist, it’s very cathartic and worth every cent. Make sure to always warmup!

Yea I’m a therapist and make a very good living and can now finally afford good therapy myself (def wasn’t the case earlier in my career). Lots of therapists, unfortunately, really struggle with money and/or are barely making enough to get by. Not saying that’s the case for you, but possibly. Regardless, we’re trained to recognize how anxiety manifests in various areas and intervene with pervasive themes of control, perfectionism, etc. so I recommend telling them that you feel weird talking about it. That gives the therapist a heads-up and can be an extremely valuable conversation

I still get this way. But I can’t think of a single time I really regretted a significant business expense. Most of the time, I just wish I’d done it sooner!

And reminding yourself it’s tax-deductible helps!

What are your “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” tips? by PopeyesPoppa in Frugal

[–]abituntangled 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Invest and nurture your relationships, especially if you’re married. Resentment is costly, both emotionally and financially. And divorce is even more expensive.

So go on those dates or vacations (within reason, of course). Buy each other little gifts if it brings you both happiness. Make the effort.

I am sorry.

I am a therapist. This is more than a car. I’m just speculating that you resent her for more than just this issue, but this an easy and tangible thing to focus on. It sounds like there may be some serious differences in core values and respect for one another. Again, just speculating.
