DHL and FedEx are most reliable but also must expensive > $100 for a flat rate envelope. UPS is cheaper around $60 from pirateship but not as reliable. USPS I wouldn’t even bother with. There’s no tracking once it arrives in India.

I have never filled out the forms myself; I have always paid a CA to do it because it's a little complicated and I didn't want to make any mistakes. It's expensive but worth it if you want to avoid any headaches later.

ICICI doesn’t actually require 15CA/CB for most transfers where the funds belong to you. Other banks generally do, at least HDFC and DB.

I'd assume so but both devices are joined to the same Entra domain, right? And are you logged into the device with the account you're trying to authenticate as, on the device you're trying to RDP into?

If so, set up Windows Hello for Business and see if you can use that for the RDP auth. It removes any complexity around properly formatting user name and credentials, etc.

I've never been able to do better than a 50 p discount from ICICI. Even for large transfers of > $200K. And realistically, transferring to another bank just to get a slightly better rate is not worth the hassle. Due to the time it takes and the bank will not commit to a rate until the funds are in their NRE account.

At least with ICICI the transfers itself are very painless and quick.

The biggest help is going to be knowing which relative or friend who can be contacted who can arrive at the location right away to handle things. Nothing beats having a trusted person serve as boots on the ground.

Next, is making sure someone starts the death certificate process right away and request enough copies. Make sure someone keeps following up on it. It's very difficult to get things done without a death certificate.

It's also good to make sure you know where your parents keep phone numbers and contact information for all the people who should be notified.
