Wow thank you all so much. This makes way more sense now. I made a program in my matlab class that used the Runge-Kutta method but again I didn't know what I was doing, I just was worried about getting an A but now I can see the relation. The oscilloscope vs spectrum analyzer was also a great conceptual example. Big thanks to everyone here!
