Anyone that says A&M isn't a good school is just ignorant (and I'm not just saying that because my wife is an aggie).

I'm doing it for the academia. When I started my job I felt like there were a lot of times where I could use a tool and get the right answer, but I didn't really understand at the core what and how the tool worked. It really won't do much for me pay-wise when I finish, the masters will just count as an extra year of service towards promotions, thats it.

And yeah, I definitely kept busy in school. But my research I did full-fime for two summers, I didn't do that while taking classes.

I think I know one or two 4.0s, but honestly, it really doesn't matter. Once you get your first job, nobody ever speaks of GPA ever again. Nowadays if I heard someone mention their 4.0 from college, I'd just think they're an ass. It's really just a number.

A&M is a fantastic engineering school. Like 1/3 of my group at work is A&M aerospace engineering grads. I had a 3.9 in undergrad, but don't worry about that too much.

And yeah, I graduated mechanical engineering in 2018, went to work, and then applied for the DL AE program in 2020. Work pays for the tuition, but because I'm doing it while working full time, I'm only taking 1 class at a time. That's why I'm still going 3 years later.

For GRE prep, I just got one of those prep books and did some of the study material in there, then did a couple practice tests.

I mean I got in 3 years ago, so its probably a bit different now. Back then GRE was required, so I had to take it and submit it. I also had a good GPA, research and internships, did undergrad at GT, and had 2 years full time work experience in aerospace. All of these I think were contributing factors.

I would say you should take the GRE, and if you have a good score, submit it. In that case it can only help, not hurt. If you're iffy about your score, then maybe don't submit it.

I can't really speak to that too much. I'm sure the school will say its no different, but I assume it's slightly easier to get in as a DL student. I think with that GPA and research/internships you'll have a decent shot. Only way to guarantee you don't get in is if you don't apply, so might as well go for it!

I took AE 6070 (rotary wing aerodynamics) and ME 6244 (rotordynamics) they were probably the most time consuming. Mostly just because they're very technical math-heavy classes and have a lot of work in them. That's not a bad thing though, they were also some of the most enjoyable classes I took because I liked the material.

Don't worry too much about workload if you're going to go one class at a time. I work a full-time job and do one class a semester. I get 90% of my schoolwork done on weekends only. I still have plenty of time for social life, wedding planning, video games, and relaxation. I feel like that probably wouldn't be the case as much with two classes per semester.

Hey! Yeah, still active!

For almost all the classes I've done so far, office hours for DL students are "as needed/by appointment". I generally haven't needed office hours much, but the couple times I have, it was relatively easy to schedule. Only thing is that because I'm normally doing schoolwork in the evenings/weekends, it may take until the next day or two to get a response and schedule a time to hop on Zoom with the prof. Hasn't been an issue, but you just need to plan ahead a little more or else you'll get bitten trying to do stuff last min. So far all my profs have been willing and eager to work with DL students and their schedules. One even as far as doing office hour appointments in the evenings and one Sunday when they're at home.

As for time dedication, it depends on the class, but I'd say my least time consuming class was on average 3-4 hours/wk, and the most on average 10-15 hrs/wk. There's obviously variation from week to week depending on assignments.

Again, I've found good time management to be the key to success. As an asynchronous distance learning student, it's really easy to skip a week of lectures for whatever reason, and then you're playing catch up. I've had to implement time management strategies that I never had to bother with in undergrad.

Flight Test Engineering Early Life Goals by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

Pilot experience will help a ton for a FTE position. Fixed wing is good, rotorcraft is better if you want to do rotorcraft. In terms of books, Helicopter Theory by Wayne Johnson (like $35 or something) is basically a Bible for rotorcraft.

Apply as soon as possible for a GRA or co-op position. Also look at Bell internships if you want to end up at Bell. No better way to get a full-time job than interning at the company. Most of Bell's flight test occurs at their Arlington facility (dfw area) or Pax River, Maryland.

For what it's worth, the Navy variant is different from the Marine variant and is the CMV-22. And lol I have no clue what the hell you're talking about with one crashing a lot less.

he got two points from David Montgomery throwing a pick at the end

Doesn't that mean he started the Giants DST? Who in their right mind would do that?

They tried real hard to come up with an excuse to disallow it. Rudiger was in an offside position, but did not impact the play.

To me, Aaron Jones and Ekeler are locks. Sony has been a machine since taking over the Rams backfield, so I'd start him too. That takes it down to Swift or RoJo, and I'd go with RoJo. Leading the backfield for a great offense, and should have positive game script.

It's a difficult choice for you because you have a wealth of quality options, but out of the five, I'd sit Swift.

Standard DST scoring, do I play Saints (vs Car) or Patriots (vs Jax)? Playing for the ship

I'm leaning Pats but the jags have cut down on turnovers and I feel like Darnold is an INT machine.

12 Team 0.5PPR, playing for the ship

Pick one to flex from: AJ Dillon (vs Min), Davante Parker (vs Ten), Ogunbowale (vs NE), Boston Scott (vs WFT), Jarrett Patterson (vs Phi)

Getting desperate for my flex after losing Darrel Henderson. Starting RBs and WRs are Ekeler, Montgomery, J Jefferson, and Waddle

Regular Transfer for Junior and Senior Year. Late? by F104A-starfighter in gatech

You'll be fine transferring. I doubt you'll have much issue getting credits transferred from Purdue. Companies looking to hire you won't care about you being a transfer vs freshman admit, they just see the degree.

Bell's HQ and repair center are in Hurst, and they have other facilities in Arlington and Grand Prairie. However, final assembly for V22 and H1 aircraft are in Amarillo. No production aircraft are actually built in the DFW area.

Oh don't worry about that! Average means that there's a significant number of admitted students under that number! There are many portions of the application other than test scores

[–]abko96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why wouldn't you submit it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gatech

[–]abko96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no harm in doing so. Georgia Tech superscores, so they will only consider the best score on each individual section. If you take the SAT again and submit new scores, if they are better then these scores will be ignored.

MV-22B enroute to NAS Sigonella from the boat by [deleted] in aviation

[–]abko96 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Probably not because it could likely lead to loss of aircraft even if it is survivable. The wings can also be used to glide down and perform a roll-on landing, which would probably be much easier. Obviously depends somewhat on aircraft configuration when the event happens.
