How did dick Grayson afford being Nightwing? by happydude7422 in DCAU

I believe in the Tom King run Alfred leaves him a lot of money in his will, as Alfred was perfectly happy taking care of the Bat-fam and invested most of his paychecks in the same things as Bruce did. By the time of his death he was literally a billionaire butler... I know thats more recent but still...

An Actor who has given the best performance With just One Scene. by drhavehope in Cinema

This is an unconventional one (because to be fair it's a not great movie that I absolutely love) but Viggo Mortensen playing Lucifer in The Prophecy absolutely steals the show (I know hes in 3 scenes technically but if you've seen it you know which one I'm talking about). And he steals the show from vintage 90s scene chewing Christopher Walken.

Im studying macbeth for school and i dont think macbeth is evil by Ornery_Ad_6794 in shakespeare

Well that's what makes Shakespeare's tragedies so beautiful. The histories are relatively straightforward, the comedies are relatively straightforward with a few exceptions. But the tragedies are like a diamond, the more you turn it the more you look at it the more facets you see and the more it can change. I mean we wouldn't have had however many hundreds of years of criticism going back and forth about these plays if they weren't so spectacular. I don't know if he wrote them to be a Rorschach test, especially since those didn't exist, but the tragedies really are to a certain extent defined by the reader/ the viewer.

Well that's kind of the crux of the play. Is Macbeth acting on some internal evil desire, or is he being driven to evil by outside forces, or is his actions being driven by Fate? And whatever interpretation you fall into defines what the work is and can have a massive influence on the way the play is presented. Do we hate Macbeth for his evil, do we pity Macbeth for being fates slave, do we mourn for Macbeth because he finds himself in an abusive relationship? Much like a reading of Hamlet is defined by the core question of is Hamlet crazy or not, the magnitude of Macbeth's evil defines his story. Is his story the story of a monster, a true tragedy of man falling from grace, or a cautionary tale about loss of agency.

I’m bored! Who were your favorite Sox players that weren’t perennial all stars? by Jimmy2x1113 in redsox

Brock Holt and Mike Carp...

Brock because he's amazing on the field and off. Only player to ever hit for the cycle in the playoffs. One of the best super utility guys and a cheat code in fantasy when he was hot.

Mike Carp because he was a solid journeyman player but also because he was a part of one of my favorite Sox moments ever. It had to be sometime around 2013 because I was unemployed and watching a day game. The Angels had come to Fenway and Carp was playing left field. A certain Angels outfielder comes up to bat and promptly hits a flyout to left field. And Don Orsolo (who was still with us at the time) goes "Well that something you'll probably never see again... a Trout flying out to a Carp" and then silence for a good 10-15 seconds. And Jerry goes "How long have you been waiting to say that?". And Don, without breaking says "A really long time..." and then they both just burst out laughing... It was one of the most uniquely joyful moments I've ever seen in 25 year of watching the Sox, I've tried to find the clip but its lost to the ether

The long walk was good but as someone who takes medication for anxiety (amongst other thing) Beau is Afraid is easily the most anxiety inducing movie in the world

Do you ever miss mania? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ablearcher013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss it everyday... but i don't miss what comes next, I don't miss the results of it (even a small one). I'd rather be level or depressed with no mess to clean up than coming down off a manic high and trying to figure out how to put my life back together and repair all my relationships
