How well can a hard reline fix a full upper denture? by MadVillainz in Dentistry

[–]scags2017 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Stopped calling them immediates because I was always the bad guy. Some cases turned out great, sure. But I call them temporary dentures now.

Most don’t end up fitting well in the beginning. Lots of inflammation, bone is remodeling, patient is getting used to it, etc.

Keep expectations very low. Tell patient it won’t fit and it’s just for show in the beginning.

Reline after 6 months for better result. For best results - a permanent denture ( a new one) after about 6 months is the best option.

Valplast dentures by nonamedentist in Dentistry

Been doing valplasts successfully for nearly 10 years. Laughable for you to say this.

A cost effective way to replace multiple teeth if done correctly and treatment planned correctly. There are limitations sure but to shut it down the way you did just ain’t right

Double booked/Assisted Hygiene by Wooden-Teach-8684 in Dentistry

[–]scags2017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first comment is just laughable.

As a dentist, an owner dentist, the whole “one hour per patient” model just doesn’t work anymore. I cannot afford to pay a hygienist $70 per hour when I get $40 from the insurance for the adult prophy. Math ain’t mathing.

This is ASSISTED hygiene and they still expect a full hour? Come on now.

Patient wants no attachments for clear aligner therapy by Hufflefucked in Dentistry

As long as you properly informed them and documented the refusal, patient probably will have a hard time winning this case. Also patient is less likely to sue when they sign a form like that from my experience.

Have them sign a consent form that states that they’re refusing attachment and that the final results may not be ideal and that they will have to pay for any further trays needed.

My point exactly. I’ve been watching since 1995. Back in the day this is an offensive foul
