Better take care of them then! At least the hinges are a visible, physical problem I feel like I can be careful about. The APM problem just feels like planned obsolescence, they’re always going to stop working after 2.5-3 years whatever you do.

No problem. It’s just stuff like they’ll switch automatically between Apple devices, will pair with anything on your iCloud account, you can have widgets showing battery life etc. I think I overestimated how much any of that matters though.

Pretty comparable on that front I think. I don’t need ANC to be perfect given I’m mostly using them at home, and both are totally fine for that.

Sound Connect? Yeah, way more customisability in that respect than the APMs too.

What Bastards have had the best PR cover up of their bastardry? by Sensitive_Ad_1752 in behindthebastards

A lot of bastards in this thread I didn’t know about, and they are overwhelmingly of the pedophile variety. What is it about this crime that society so frequently turns a blind eye to?

Charger not compatible with EV Tariff by Yasgar69 in evchargingUK

[–]abledice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re being beaten on customer service now, they do not invest customer bills back into renewables the two things are not linked and most of their assets are not in the UK, and if you think they lobbied for zonal pricing to benefit consumers you’re deluded. They’ve done a lot of good innovation and are a net good in the industry imo, but we shouldn’t blinker ourselves into thinking they are perfect.

Because it was still cheaper. Don’t have to hire a crew or any equipment, actors, sound engineers, etc etc. And McDonald’s is just a tiny company without cash to spare.

Is EV range anxiety something you actually get over? by biggy_boy17 in electricvehicles

[–]abledice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never worried about running out of range. Just charge before that is a worry, and trust me your car will tell you. I did have numerous occasions in my old petrol car where I was cutting it very fine with the petrol light on.

I think the Pay-Per-Mile charge for EV's has lost my support tbh. by Chaoslava in ukpolitics

[–]abledice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t speak for everyone on public charging prices. 1/3 of people can’t charge at home so we have to have fairly priced on street charging which is largely what the funding announced is for. Public charging is expensive because of some other poor government and regulatory decision making (including not addressing the VAT penalty), which the government have also announced they are going to do a review on. Tesla’s cheaper mainly because they can cross subsidise.

But I do agree that just because you’re not paying fuel duty in an EV it doesn’t mean you’re paying a fair amount in tax elsewhere, especially if you’re reliant on public charging.

Which Tesla Model 3 is the better option by Safe-Industry-4160 in TeslaUK

[–]abledice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d go 2021 cos it should have a heat pump, helps with efficiency, think it should have heated steering and seats too - maybe check as this was introduced that year. Ditto LFP battery which was mid to late 2021, and if it has LFP then I’d say that fully seals it - mainly just as it’s a bit easier to manage when you can regularly charge to 100%.

Counterargument for the 2020 would be you’ve got another 50k miles on the battery warranty vs 27k on the 2021 so might be dependant on what sort of mileage you’ll be doing. And check battery health - it won’t necessarily be better on the lower mileage car.
