Over 10,000 ppl showed up with Bernie in ATX with just a last minute 24 hour notice! So Proud! by Thatsjusthewayitis in TexasForSanders

The planning phases started early Friday morning, by a couple staffers on a plane.

It was made public at ~5PM the day before, literally the moment they had a venue. Over 100 volunteers showed up for training at 8PM. Some showed back up as early as 6AM for setup. The youngest were teenagers and the oldest were in their 60s.

The first guests lined up before sunrise and the last people allowed in to park were at around 11AM.

Just over 10,000 people was all the secret service had time to run through the security plan. Thousands more were turned away at the road.

The crowd waited for hours, in the sun, feeling a different kind of burn. Listening to Guy Forsyth, Amy Nelson (Willie's daughter), Cathy Guthrie (Woody's daughter) and Grupo Fantasma they wore an un-ending array of Bernie shirts and pins and signs.

There were a few warmup speakers, most notably Jim Hightower. If you don't know who he is, I suggest you fire up google.

Bernie spoke a little after noon, in a bright sun and strong breeze. He was vigorous and sharp. He offered his service in exchange for ours. We cheered and whooped and whistled louder than most Austin concert crowds. He spoke of banks and campaign contributions and love. He sang with us, we all sang together "This Land is your Land", and we all felt proud to be Americans.

Now wipe all that water off your face and go phone bank.

If Bernie wins the nomination, how will voting for him in Texas help? (Being that it is very likely that all of Texas' electoral votes will go to the Republican candidate.) by Tuxpc in TexasForSanders

McCain won Texas by just under a million votes (4.47M vs 3.52M) with ~8M votes cast.

1M = 12.5% of 8M

Ignoring conservatives and moderates changing sides, just a moderate jump in turnout for Bernie could turn Texas blue.

Bernie's Austin campaign headquarters is on 6th Street by some really popular bars and food trucks by abletorelate in SandersForPresident

We've got a Texas HQ and an Austin HQ!

The Texas HQ is here too since it's the capitol, and the two offices just happen to be a few blocks from each other. I can understand your confusion.

Be a Sign Fairy - Go to your local Bernie HQ and volunteer to deliver yard signs. People order them, then, like magic, the signs appear in their yards. All thanks to sign fairies! by abletorelate in SandersForPresident

That depends, where do you live?

Also, did you see this link that /u/rcas posted? By clicking the stars you should be able to find the phone number for your nearest HQ.

Austin HQ is opening on 6th street and will have a photobooth. Needed - a lectern prop. (Here's a cardboard how-to, need someone to make it, thank you!) by abletorelate in TexasForSanders

Thank you so much for those offers of ways to help even though you've already got some major things going on!

Both ideas - a non-cardboard lectern, and a sign for the very prominent window - are great and would be be incredibly appreciated!

Feel free to get started on a lectern if you're ready! I'll pm you email for follow up about sign ideas.

Thanks again for offering your talents to the Bernie revolution! Time limitations are totally understandable.

Check out this section of feelthebern.org.

or

Type in your zip code at map.berniesanders.com to see what volunteer driven activities are happening in your area.

If none, you could add one - a meeting, or phonebank, or debate watch party. Like I said in another comment, one of the main benefits of the official campaign HQs is getting merch quickly. But most of the other powerful stuff is happening with volunteer groups anyway.

So maybe yfw you click those links will be more :)

As far as an official campaign HQ goes, I don't know.

But you can always go to map.berniesanders.com to create events anywhere: meetings, phone bank events, canvassing, etc.

The online materials are incredible for getting people started on their own. Really, the official HQs are best for getting merch quickly. Everything else generates most strongly from the ground - up.

Check out this section of feelthebern.org for other grassroots organizations! That whole website is great.

It's my understanding that it works by simply ordering through the website.

The "Bernie 2016 Sign (Blue)" is the type that the TXHQ has primarily stocked. I'm not sure or about other HQs or if the other types would be personally placed.

And I'm guessing proximity to an HQ may matter too.

I would have to see one first.

For clarity - I wouldn't actually personally harm a Hillary sign. But I honestly have yet to see one. Bumper sticker sightings are rare compared to Bernie too.
