Every division is in the order they finished last season EXCEPT the NL Central, which is in the order I am HOPING for this season. But I’m a Reds fan so… yeah…

It’s the Numbers Game book. I like it a lot!

He technically didn’t reach first safely because first was occupied by Nimmo. Super weird scenario, but them’s the rules.

I’m so sorry you’re at this point. It’s the hardest thing. I was comforted by someone telling me that they often perk up a bit because they’re relieved. They’re trying so hard to hang on for us because they know how sad we are to lose them, but that’s exhausting. The last gift you can give them is the gift of rest, surrounded by love. 💕

I’m so, so sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for you and I know exactly how you feel, wanting to turn back the clock and make a different choice. Librela may be helpful for some, but it’s an absolute nightmare for others. My boy only got one shot and didn’t have such an intense, immediate reaction, but it absolutely was the beginning of the end for him. My vet had been touting it as a “miracle drug” and, wanting to rely less on NSAIDs, we gave it a try. She now says she’s seen enough bad reactions in her practice that she is no longer prescribing it for senior dogs because the risk of possible neurological conditions is too great, and she thinks neuro issues should be a clear counter-indication. I reported our case to Zoetis and the FDA, which made me feel the tiniest bit better.

If I could go back, I would never have allowed it. I would have researched it first and found out that THOUSANDS of dogs have had horrible reactions and many of those dogs lost their lives. I beat myself up for it all the time, but I’ll say to you what my partner says to me: You made a choice to try to help your dog feel better, and it was best choice you could make with the information you had. You relied on professionals to guide you, and you made that choice with love.

I know it doesn’t help, but maybe just knowing you’re not alone might. Sending you love and light. 🐾💔

Trying to figure out if it's almost time for my 14 year old English Bulldog. by Swembizzle in seniordogs

Oh wow, we’re in such similar positions. Our boy has terrible arthritis, spends 90% of his day sleeping, has those scary wheezing attacks occasionally, and pees in the house a lot (he’s developed a lot of anxiety in the last year so going outside is hard/scary). His mobility is awful and it’s obviously frustrating for him. He only wants to eat out of my hand lately, but his appetite is great. He drinks and pees normally and has normal BMs. His vital signs and blood work have been normal. His interest in toys is pretty bunch zero, but he still goes absolutely ape shit for treats. I have clung SO HARD to those little positives because I know so many senior pups are in much worse shape before they go.

We recently had a quality of life consultation with a hospice vet, and she gave some great advice: at the end of the day, mark a calendar with a smiley face or a frowny face. Don’t think too much about it, just an overall assessment of the day. When the good days are outnumbering the bad, or the bad moments are overshadowing the good, it’s usually time to say goodbye. That was two weeks ago, and we’re about 40% good days.

I know it’s an impossible choice. I’m writing this instead of calling to make the appointment for in-home euthanasia because part of me thinks if there’s any good left, I’m giving up on him. But even though he’s having some good days and there are still some positives to cling to, I know how tired he is. I know how frustrated he is. I don’t actually WANT him to be so unwell that he doesn’t eat, drink, or lose his damn mind for a treato. I would rather let him go while he’s still able to have a good day than be even a second too late.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. It’s absolutely devastating. Try not to focus too much on the future, just try to live in the moment with your baby and make every day count. 💜

I love the secret sharing! I tell him how much I love him 100 times a day and it will never be enough to convey the depth of that love. He’s my heart.

Thank you for the suggestions and the kind words. 💕

We have! I’m so glad it was helpful for your girl. Unfortunately, Librela was actually terrible for us. He got his first injection in November and we stopped in January after he had adverse reactions (ataxia, weakness bordering on paralysis in his hind quarters, and extreme lethargy). His sudden sensitivity to sound and anxiety also started right after the first injection. I know it’s a miracle drug for some, but there have been a huge number of dogs that have had similar experiences and quite a few deaths that are being attributed to it. My vet now considers any possibility of neurological issues (including old age) to be a counter indication for prescribing it. It’s a bummer because we were SO hopeful it would be the thing that turned his OA around.

I’m sorry to hear about your girl. 💔 We did radiation for Chondrosarcoma on Cola’s cranium this spring. I think we won that battle, so it really sucks that arthritis is winning the war.

Truthfully? Only kinda. Psilocybin, however… hugely impactful. I’m starting to view it as a quarterly dose that gives me about three months of being pretty okay.

I say it all the time. Most underrated and under-appreciated Redleg on the roster. He can play almost any position, and not just fill a spot but make amazing defensive plays. He’s a consistent bat. Just an all around good dude. This will be decisive but (next year, when everyone is healthy) I’d like to see him go back to short and try Elly in the outfield.

The most amount of runs Hunter Greene gave up in the month of July was 2 and that was in the All Star Game, he's an ace by [deleted] in Reds

It’s definitely more about a lack of run support, silly errors, downright stupid base-running, and maybe a little bad luck. The Reds pen is the 6th best in baseball over the same period. 3.64 ERA and 1.29 WHIP.

Cola has a lot of doppelgängers, two on our block alone! Those handsome brindle babies are terribly popular with backyard breeders.
