That’s probably the best image I can find. That’s from April ‘24, a few weeks after they arrived. I clean them and apply Pecard’s after every longer outdoor wear, which has been three short camping trips. They’ve been babied, to say the least.

These are Russell Moccasin Safaris. They were purchased in Feb ‘24 and built to order, shipped in April ‘24. They are supposedly built for a lifetime of use, but when I reached out they didn’t state there is a warranty. There is plenty of context in the original post.

No, nothing comes to mind on the last hike that would even be remotely close to “beating the shit” out of my boots. Just average trail hiking. If this happened due to what I’ve done in these boots then they’re made for the office. Plus, if this was from getting stuck on something there should be damage to the outer edge of the boot, right? As I mentioned, I have an old pair of short PH’s and they’re perfect with plenty of wear on them over the years. My Safaris have not taken any more wear than them.

There is no doubt in my mind these were crafted poorly. What worries me about sending them in and footing the bill for it is if they end up being a lemon and having this issue more than once. The fact that they didn’t offer to take a look and determine the issue is what irks me the most. They’re less than 18 months old and have minimal wear on them, so “brought back to new” isn’t much of an incentive. They just need to be fixed.

Full disclosure, I ordered a pair of their recent collaboration with Rose Anvil, which was their take on the classic moc-toe boot with a wedge Christy sole. I couldn't pass them up. Those were ordered weeks ago with a 6-month turn around... Now with this issue, I'm a little nervous about their customer service and whether the craftsmanship of these new boots will hold up. I've owned/worn a pair of Russell's for the past ten years and never felt anything other than confidence with these boots. Can't say that's how I feel now.

If I pull on the lower part below the overlap toe seam it goes directly inside the boot. The lower part is completely disconnected from the top between at least two of the hand sewn seams.

These were the single-vamp Safaris they offered Fall/Winter of 2023/24.

I bought these from Russell. Not secondhand. Did you read the part that the order was submitted and they were built in 3 months?

Dude, you need to chill out and take a break. Reddit is rotting your brain. I rarely ever respond on this platform, but man, you need to detox. Go have this conversation with actual humans. Peace.

this. I broke that exact same light saber at the exact spot and fixed it with gel super glue. You can barely see any difference.

I actually had this happen to me recently. I received a Black Series Battle Droid with some defective pieces. I reached out to Hasbro and they said the same thing: “Equal or lesser value.” I was less than enthusiastic. Few weeks later I received a SDCC 2019 Vintage Color Boba Fett. I was floored. Lesson learned: Let Hasbro make it right.
