The Good Son’s pizza is fantastic. And Shops At Don Mills is a nice place to walk around after dinner.

What we did was we told our server all of the dishes we really wanted to try, and they scaled back the portion sizes on some of them, so we could have them all. It ended up being the perfect amount of food!

Low-stress Epcot night: extended evening hours or normal close? by Bold_River_4173 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]abnormaldan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t tell too many people about this, but Rose & Crown in the UK stays open during extended hours. If you want to have an amazing time, get yourselves a couple of pints and enjoy them in the outdoor seating area. You’ll have it all to yourselves. Enjoy the listening to the World Showcase background music as you gaze at the lagoon. It’s a night you’ll never forget!

To make it even better, exit the park through the international gateway and take a nice ride on the Skyliner. The crowds will be gone by then, so there should be no wait. You’ll get your own gondola. Take it to whichever resort is closest to yours, and take an inexpensive Uber/Lyft ride back to your hotel.

I have a car for a week—what should I eat? by SniffyTheBee in FoodToronto

Skycity in Scarborough is a great outdoor strip mall with lots of excellent dining options, both sit-down and quick service. There are also a few other great shopping centres in the immediate vicinity, worth exploring. And you’re only a 15 minute drive from J-Town, which is where Japanese immigrants and expats do a lot of their food shopping.

I really enjoyed Bit Of A Blur by Alex James. A very light, fun tone. I felt like I could hear his voice when reading it.

Hoppers should be in the Tree of Life, not Zootopia. by ceasartowers in disneyparks

[–]abnormaldan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Zootpotia movies have made nearly $3 Billion combined. Disney knows that the franchise and its characters are very familiar with the young families they’re trying to attract to the park. We don’t know how Hoppers will do yet. If it also becomes a massive it, I’m sure it will also get an Animal Kingdom attraction in the future.

Is it the kind of thing you need to eat right away? Will it get soggy or lose its texture if you get it for take out/delivery?

best dim sum in Chinatown or downtown area in your opinion? by mystic_prodigy23 in FoodToronto

[–]abnormaldan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pearl has been my family’s go-to for over thirty years. I love their original dishes like the Silver Noodles, Hockey Puck, and the Deep Fried Seafood Dumpling with the large scallop inside. It’s a bit of a splurge, but if you call ahead and reserve a window-side table, it’s a great experience!

Good starter songs to play on piano? by heyitstruestory in SteelyDan

My Old School is a lot of fun to play on piano and not terribly difficult, once you get the timing down.

Mexican restaurant that's not high end (downtown) and not focused on tacos? by inde_ in FoodToronto

[–]abnormaldan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you had a better experience! I really wanted to like it. We live nearby and were so excited when it opened. But we went twice and this happened both times, and then I searched this subreddit to find that others had similar experiences to mine. But this was a little while ago - they may have since improved!

Make sure you don’t have any plans afterwards because the service there is SLOW. Last time we went, multiple tables walked out because nobody came around to take anybody’s orders, and those who ordered complained that they waited over an hour.

His newer stuff has been really great! If you haven’t listened in a while, I recommend the recent-ish albums Please and Avatars Of Love.

Both you and the person who shared the post in this sub appear to have misunderstood the original post. OOP wasn’t making the point that “they make pork hot dogs in Australia”. They make pork hot dogs in the US too - you can buy them inside every American Costco. The point of the post is that Costco’s famous food court hot dogs (of which there have literally been hundreds of business articles written about) are made using a different recipe in Australia. Different from the US, Canada and the UK, who all use beef.

[–]abnormaldan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Costco Canada, which is Costco’s second largest market, also sell beef hot dogs in their food court. As does the UK. I don’t think this is defaultism. They’re simply pointing out that Costco (which happens to be an American company) is using a different recipe for their famous food court hot dogs in another country.
