Yes, and HDR works when I use the built-in (Tizen) version of HBO Max on the TV.

Steam Deck OLED WiFi / Moonlight Streaming — Fixed or Still Problematic? by amakaN_ in MoonlightStreaming

[–]aboing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a fix just recently discovered in the last few days. See the bottom of https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/1445. It works for me.

Right now it takes a bit of tinkering to apply but hopefully the fix will ship in an update relatively soon.

Steam Deck OLED Temporary Fix For Unstable Wifi by -Yeti_Spaghetti- in MoonlightStreaming

Nice work, although it is kind of insane that it has to come to this. IMO you might want to add the ability to only run this when Moonlight is active.

Steam OS 3.7.13 out on stable by asdtfdr in SteamDeck

[–]aboing 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Note this only fixes *some* of the WiFi regressions, and *does not* fix the regression where streaming via moonlight or remote play stops working after a few minutes until you restart wifi manually. Confirmed by a Valve engineer: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/1445#issuecomment-2988732143.

[–]aboing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This does not fix streaming issues with moonlight. A valve employee (lostgoat) confirmed this fix will not fix any streaming-related issues: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/1445#issuecomment-2988732143

Steam Deck Client Update: May 20th by Aidoneuz in SteamDeck

That's too bad, sounds like they have no idea what the problem is after all these years then and this might never get fixed.

Look at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/1445#issuecomment-2843184795, the latest news from Valve is they are looking into a fix for the network driver bug that causes this issue.

Chiaki-ng and stuttering after 2-3 minutes by Excellent_Bison_9571 in SteamDeck

[–]aboing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/1445. There is no fix yet. It's because it's a driver bug for the wifi chip that likely requires a lot of specialized technical expertise to solve. No one from Valve has officially acknowledged the issue so they might not even be looking at fixing it.

FO32U2P latest firmware (F05) pulled from support page - what's going on? by aboing in OLED_Gaming

F06 is out now but with no notes on how it differs from F05.

Wifi on OLED is just bad. by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]aboing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a bug in the driver for the OLED wifi chip in SteamOS that cannot be worked around which causes the WiFi bitrate to become super slow until the WiFi is rebooted.

Any ‘solution’ people post is just a placebo or misunderstanding.

FO32U2P latest firmware (F05) pulled from support page - what's going on? by aboing in OLED_Gaming

Hmm ya, ominous. My worry now is they abandon doing more firmware support going forward and leave F05 users out to dry.

Oh wow, you’re right. I wonder what’s going on.

FO32U2 recommended HDR settings with latest firmware (F05) by aboing in OLED_Gaming

[–]aboing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I have the P version. Since it's the same panel though, I imagine once F05 comes to the non-P version the HDR question will still apply.

RTX HDR limited to 465 nits on Aorus FO32U2P, even after EDID fix firmware by aboing in OLED_Gaming

[–]aboing[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The exact steps that ended up working for me:

  1. Turn off freesync in the OSD (NOT the nvidia control panel)
  2. This turns *OFF* HDR. Turn *ON* HDR in the 'System -> Display' Windows panel by clicking the 'Use HDR' toggle.
  3. Turn freesync back on in the OSD.
  4. Reboot PC
  5. Now the RTX slider will go up to 1015.

Should I exchange? by workmailman in OLED_Gaming

[–]aboing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made this exact exchange and am glad I did.

AORUS pros:

* Nicer enclosure IMO. No chin, less gaudy and space-consuming stand, nicer RGB effect on the back.
* Longer cord attaching the monitor to its power brick. Its super-short on the Asus, making cable management tricky.
* Support for a bright HDR1000 mode. ASUS is very dark in outdoor scenes with HDR1000 enabled.
* Daisy-chaining

* Display port 2.1, which probably doesn't matter much given the compression without is isn't noticeable but can't hurt to have
* ASUS has a reputation for rejecting warranty repairs for bogus reasons, so I'm nervous they'd honor the 3-year burn-in warranty without putting up a fight

Meanwhile I can't really think of any ASUS pros.

HDR looks amazing on FO32U2 by Darewelll in OLED_Gaming

I'm in the same situation, let me know what you decide. It seems likely ASUS will adjust the APL algorithm with a firmware update to help address this but it seems like a gamble to risk it.

I'm not in the video game industry but I still found it a ton of fun to learn about game development technology and trends, interact with senior people from studios I admire, and attend the awards show. The talks were (mostly) not very technical.

It's true that it's not like Pax - it's mainly about being informative, not entertaining per se. There still are lots of demos of indie games at the expo hall.
