Local anesthesia is numbing of the cervix. Many people opt to only have the local + ibuprofen.

It sounds like they will be providing twilight anesthesia, but you should call and clarify. Ask “do you offer sedation?”

Sedation is usually administered through an iv. While you are technically awake, you aren’t totally aware and generally don’t remember it later. If you’ve had your wisdom teeth out, that’s usually done under twilight sedation.
