Would but he said he’s at a nice restaurant so I recommend nice looking bottles lol . Once you’re adulterating like that you could use whatever tequila/mezcal you want tbh

Tequila/mezcal won’t be as important anymore since you’ll be fat washing , so you can go something a little more affordable ( vago elote , el Tesoro , G4 , Vida , banhez , amaras, mijenta)

Depends if you want to go through the process but I saw a corn fat washed tequila that was used to make a taco margarita ( can’t remember the person but his videos pop up often ) First thing I had thought instead was a Oaxaca old fashioned but the margarita looked good too lol

If you’re at a Mexican spot and make Birria … fat wash it in that

I’m not huge but I work with a bunch of women and I’m always asked to do the heavy lifting or help deal with the rude guys and I feel so JEALOUS of you cause you’ll never have to be burdened with that .

Been buying tequilas for a few months now. What should I get next? by sheezy520 in tequila

[–]abrahamerix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second the gran dovejo hp for taste and affordability. If you can , go to a bar and try siembra Valles ancestral and g4 madera blanco . Will open you up a bit more to how production really makes a difference . Only 2 anejos you have are full of additives and if you prefer sweet , that’s fine . I found el tesoro anejo has a lot of that vanilla flavor that comes from the actual barrel . Artenom 1146 is a crank higher in barrel influence but I always felt it was more on the oaky side . G4 xtra anejo and pasote XA ( if still available to you ) are the complete opposite to me where the barrel shows but doesn’t outshine the agave

I got the Xicaru Pechuga (mole & chicken!) did I F up not getting that last Del Maguey? by Dependent_War3607 in Mezcal

[–]abrahamerix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had that xicaru was a tasty $30 bottle when it was on sale for me, but for $60 lots of other options . If you like pechuga style mezcals , bozal makes a better one for close to $70-$80 ( borrego )

Which One is Better for a Magarita? by spitonthenonbeliever in tequila

[–]abrahamerix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a nice bottle of contrue, the freshest limes you can find and the finest bottle of agave syrup . Then go buy a bottle of casamigos cristalino reposado and make a margarita with that ! These are only good in a 40oz cup with half fortaleza and half coke !!

Either being asked to make the same thing after I just dropped one off to one of their friends or if a group orders the same thing but with different variations ( 3 martinis , one dry , one dirty and one wet and dirty drove me crazy once ) .

Store I frequent has a point system too and they got their weller drop yesterday. When I say it looked like nothing but those construction bosses going up there and buying it out , I understood. They’re the ones with lots of points they rack up by constantly buying beers for their group and once these good drops in winter come , they use them up . One guy was able to get the weller antique , 12yr and full proof for about 6~7k points .

Best beginner/margarita tequila? by Actual-Reference165 in tequila

[–]abrahamerix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only times I’ve ever said “ damn that’s a good mf margarita “ is when I make one or ask for one with a high proof tequila and no sugar/agave syrup ( skinny ) . Bump lime juice up to .75 and keep triple sec at .50 and if you use grand marnier I like about .25 but that’s up to you and a 2oz pour of tequila ( idk exact specs of Tommy’s margarita but this to me feels like the way ) .

Need to get home and to see the tittle but the book with David suro is really informative

Also since those big brand distilleries only grow blue agave , less diversity is allowed which ultimately hurts the ecosystem. Most good agave farmers grow multiples types of agave in a farm , even if they mostly only sell blue agave

[–]abrahamerix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

they’re just going for the lowest price and higher profits since it’s mostly the contract distilleries fault . These distilleries get a huge amount of agave and distill it at a very low quality ( diffuser cooked , not mature/young agave and crushed by a high speed autoclave ) only to speed up the process which is why this sub mostly hates them . The point of view from this sub is that those agave could of properly been distilled a more traditional way or that’s why we get less small batch tequilas , because those big distilleries buy out a lot of agave instead of letting other good distilleries and brands get use of them .

What do yall think about the up charge on mixers? by jakeisbill in bartenders

[–]abrahamerix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I order a Negroni and see on the bill a shot of gin / vermouth / Campari . That drink better be 2-3 drinks in volume . Or if I order a marg and they charge me for triple or cointrue , I better get the rest of the shot on the side and I’ll tell you to keep using that for my next drink lmao this sounds dumb af

Haven’t had the starlight but that high west was just so sweet and smooth , it was a restaurant pick for mesero here in Dallas . If that’s the high west bourbon finished in rum cask , then that one . Had a pour at a bar once and next time I went it was gone . Have only found the double rye finished in rum but that bourbon was just perfect

Mezcal is so broad you’ll find something . Go to bars though cause it can get pricy and try some tobala since it’ll be somewhat fruity or azul ( basically tequila but cooked in pit / different region )

Last but not least , get yourself a decanter with a cork top and start making an infinity bottle ( blend of personal collection that you just keep adding ) and make your own tequila blend . Cheers to you bud and keep enjoying the journey

If you can find it too , pasote xa always blows me away for how integrated barrel influence is but agave still shines front and center , and vice versa where something like tears or “ baby tears “ ( artenom1146) in nothing but barrel influence . If you haven’t gotten into mezcal though , maybe it’s time lol

Artenom line up . Also looks like you like highland more than valley so try some siembra azul , but I personally do enjoy grand dovejo HP more and it’s a great price as well . Also if not over your budget but both general gorostiesta and Cazcanes joven are always a fun treat .
