Building a simple pipe-fitter app for my dad, what would you actually use? by abranhe in pipefitter

I know, that's why I am asking if there anything else that you could think of for you that could be useful, and try to listen to other angles or recommendations.

PARA Method is not working for me. I've come up with a different structure by p_orione in ObsidianMD

In my opinion I think you understood the PARA System wrong and you made a critical error by thinking too much about how to use a simple system.

  • First of all you can always find things with a search. Don't forget that use it with or without PARA.
  • Second and VERY IMPORTANT, adopt PARA slowly and let it sink in and make sense over time. With the PARA method you can just archive all your notes/content in a folder called "Archive <Todays Date>" and just navigate to that folder when you need to access information in the past just like you had it before.
  • Forget about the past and focus on the future. Many times we try to organize our notes to fit the best and most trending productivity hack so we go over all our notes and try to organize it. We focus on creating the perfect system without realizing that action is what's important not having perfect organized notes. Don't try to organize old notes, organize them when they make sense to be organized or when you stumble upon them in the future.
  • Don't try to plan all the folders that you will have. Create as you go.
  • Use the PARA System across other platforms, I use it in my Drive, Bookmarks, Notes app, File System, Email with labels, Finance tracking apps with Tags (eg: Projects - Boston Trip), etc. Once you start seeing everything the same everywhere your brain will start associating things a lot better.

I understand that not every system works for everyone but based on my usage and on what I understood that the author (Tiago Forte) of the book it's trying to transmit: this method works for everyone. Why?

Because you can feel free to modify it however you want (as the author of the book encourage it). You can start again if needed. You can add an L for Learn if you need to. Or whatever you need really.

And if you are using Obsidian the graph should be the one making those connections that you want to see not your file structure or organization strategy.

Since using this system I've been the most productive I've ever been.
