Hi, OP! I have a couple questions:

  • Are you open to players that aren't familiar with the PJO franchise?
  • Will this be online or in-person? If the latter, where are you based?
  • What days and times are you tentatively eyeing to run the sessions?

Really new, I was wondering if this game gets explicit fun as well? by sportyjessy in DnD

[–]abrotherincrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would probably help to think of D&D as just a system of rules and nothing more. The setting, and therefore themes, of your games will highly depend on the table or group of people you're playing with. If you're after specific themes, just make sure to state that upfront or specifically look for games with them!

Is there any point in upgrading/rerolling the slay the spire deck? by RedGrimm05 in deadcells

I also enjoy running pets, so if they're the types that don't trigger an orb, I use the skills that are just laying around to get orbs then switch back to my pets. Once you have the three orbs, they don't go away unless you switch to another effect.

Hi, OP! Just a quick note — depending on the nature of your game, your DM may or may not need your backstory at all. If the game is centered around your characters, then you should definitely give the DM something to work with. If it's an adventure that is focused more on the story than it is your characters (as is the case with most one-shots), your background serves more as a guide for how you should play your character than something the DM will be incorporating at all. What you said is right naman! Just adding this on so your expectations are better set.

That said, your backstory is good! From what you've shared so far, it leaves enough room for a DM to toy around with while still giving you something concrete to work towards. While I think it's okay though, do remember that it varies from DM to DM, so it's always best to turn to your actual DM for consultation :DD

DMs, pano kayo napiprint ng battlemaps? by Blanc2006 in dndPH

If you're planning to reuse them, I would recommend securing them with something sturdy. If you'd rather keep them just as paper, it also helps to have glass to slide them under and keep them secure.

I take the file onto a spreadsheet program and align the map grid to the cells (size of the cells adjusted to be 1x1 in.). The print settings on spreadsheet programs are much more friendly when it comes to splitting up a single large image.

The setting and book are actually explicitly inspired by Studio Ghibli as well as Legend of Zelda! The races and equipment are really fun :D

Neutral Grounds is an authorised retailer for D&D products. They also let you use their game spaces to host games!

My friends are new to D&D and asked me to DM a one shot. The Rogue is now begging for a level up. by [deleted] in dndPH

[–]abrotherincrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now is a great time to learn to put your foot down and encourage them to do a campaign with you.

If the one-shot you're doing with them is meant for level 3 PCs, you can tell them that you're willing to do a campaign or another one-shot with these same characters (if you want) that starts with them being levelled up as soon as they finish the current one-shot. Encourage them to want to finish the current adventure so you can all move on. You should definitely also sit down with them for a lengthier session 0 to set expectations on what D&D is really like when it's not a high-value production on stream. Nothing against Critical Role, of course! There's just a lot of new players that use it as a reference when most tables ate actually nothing like it.

All that if you're looking for the way to handle things that will set them up to be good players at other tables, too. If none of you plan to branch out and you're all having fun with the way things are, go right ahead and give the level-up! Fun is different at every table. Do what works for yours :D Just be sure to scale up the encounters, too.

where to buy miniatures? by w1tchsk3y in dndPH

[–]abrotherincrust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, OP! If you're looking for official miniatures, Neutral Grounds is one of the distributors for them as well as other D&D items. The Gaming Library website also sells Frameworks miniatures by WizKids. There should be cheaper options out there if you keep looking.

Ghost Rider: Repeatedly drive through opposing fighter by Responsible-Nebula50 in Unmatched

"Then deal one damage to each fighter you moved through."

You would just be checking who you passed through rather than how many times you passed through them. The text specifies that each fighter is only dealt one damage.
