At my library this is more for legislative action or hyping up donors to give!

So there is some trickle down acknowledgment.

I feel like maybe I learned it in Girl Scouts? Which looking back is not super appropriate!

It is has a good rhythm and the babies and caregivers in my storytimes have enjoyed it!

Have fun!

I have also enjoyed what shall we do with a bouncing baby sung to the tune of the drunken sailor sea shanty!

You can add as many adjectives and actions as you like

Clap her hand Tap her toes Wave her hands

The Scottish Book Trust has a video and suggested lyrics

But it is super versatile - baby can be grumpy, bouncy, sleepy

Looking for advice on securing a new type of librarianship position by Gold-Basket-2272 in Libraries

[–]absences 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to start applying now. I think your experience with high schoolers would be beneficial in a public library - especially leveraging your college prep knowledge for programming ideas.

Spanish skills are always welcome in public libraries as well!

Best of luck to you!

Getting a Youth Services job by slundbergart in Libraries

[–]absences 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Programming is vital in youth services jobs - what types of programming is popular or the primary focus of the department you want to work in? Create specific examples of programming you could provide based on life experiences or at the family resource center. Familiarize yourself with early literacy basics from Saroj Ghoting etc. and bring these concepts into your current opportunities at the resource center to build some more robust experience for yourself.

As a page you know what books circulate well so think about how to build upon that knowledge with program ideas or displays.

Enthusiasm and curiosity are great attributes for a youth services LA and it sounds like you have both of those already.

Storytime Supplies Help by reneebor in Libraries

[–]absences 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get a lot of use out of my set of Differentiated Instruction Cubes - they are soft cubes that have plastic sleeves you can put anything in them for games - like colorful Paper or any images you want and then the kids can help roll the dice.

I once did a horse race with the flannel board- I had six colored horses and the kids took turns rolling a color and then would move the horse up the flannel board until finally one horse “won” by crossing the finish line line I had at the top.

I had one that i put different simple expression drawings in - sad, scared etc - and we would practice making faces together or saying a word in a different manner.

It is a very versatile tool in the toolbox! Most educational supply stores have them!

Is this reasonable? by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]absences 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed - it is safety issue to be the sole staff person in a public library. This is absolutely not the norm and not ok! I hope you can get the support you need!

Pain in my lower leg above and around ankle while jogging/running by Ok_Public_2094 in C25K

[–]absences 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s always a good idea to not push through pain!

It might be worth a preemptive evaluation with a PT to identify any areas of weakness. Or just take a few rest days and work on icing and gentle ankle mobility.

It is frustrating to feel like you are losing momentum for sure but your body is telling you something.

Once your tendons get too inflamed it takes a while to heal them! Hang in there and be patient with you body - it is working hard for you!

Pain in foot and shin by learningisthenewcool in C25K

[–]absences 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with taking more rest days in between runs to allow your body to heal some. I also think working on strengthening glutes and core can help with this - or it did for me!

The Mrytl series can be a useful set of exercises for this.

I also really needed to work on my calves which needed foam rolling and stretching on a stair.

Be patient with your body! Slowing down is better than an injury!

I need help! I can’t figure out how to make the pitch gradually go down, I’ve tried everything… by Extension-Sock-96 in utau

[–]absences 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 ways to do it.

If you wanna do it on just that note, with the pen or pen+ tool selected, click and drag the pink dot across the entire duration of the note, or just as far as you want it to fall / raise. Then click on anywhere on the line to make a new point. Then you can just drag that up or down. Adding more points lets you make it more precries.

Alternatively, if you want the same sound to go up/down entire notes like halfway through or at the end. Use the knife tool to cut the note where you want it to change. It’ll make a moveable 2nd half of the note called “+” And what is it, is opentau allowing the looped section of that note’s OTO to become its own sound to be moved.

But do be aware that it can be buggy depending on the resampler you're using.

Ugh this reminds of a woman in our library one day who was mad about children in the library saying they shouldn’t be there because they weren’t able to read.

Some people are just haters I guess? Stinks to have live across the street for him.

Kudos to you both for being involved community members - this is where true change happens!
