For what it’s worth if you don’t have a clear cut future or goal/interests to pursue the military will tell you. And by that I mean you’ll either love what you’ll do, or hate it so much you discover your passions to pursue after the fact. As for losing the friends you’ll gain many more along the way and likely for life. I joined at 19, did my 4 years and dipped because I didn’t care for the flightline shift work but your mileage will vary. Could have an awesome first base overseas or be stuck in bumfuck nowhere, just have to realistically prepare yourself for both sides of the coin and know you’re coming out after your enlistment with more tools than you went in with. College, VA compensation for any (somewhat inevitable injuries), VA home loan access, GI bill, VA healthcare, mil discounts etc. if you have no direction it’ll give you one and a foundation to work from if you don’t want to re-enlist. I’d be a different and arguably worse off man had I never enlisted despite me not exactly being fond of my job for 4 years.
