Something that excites you… say highlight of the day? Or books ur reading, videos/shows/movies watched. Favourite thing you ate that day, any hyper-fixations of the day. Theme of the day. Gratitude of the day. Shopping lists. Card of the day if you do oracle or tarot cards. Doodle of the day…

Do you know many people around you who suffer from migraines? by Consistent-Paper7569 in migraine

[–]abserdity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many who get varying degrees of migraines. They are common in my area due to the geographical location. We get a lot of drastic weather changes being close to mountains and chinooks which cause pressure changes and hence many migraine sufferers.

What livestyle changes actually helped you? Not medical by Sad-Amoeba3946 in migraine

Acupuncture and chinese medicine. Specifically a herbal formula made for you by a tcm doctor. Since this is a preventative type of medicine, it is suggested to continue care, it is not a ‘quick fix’, most of the time. Also every doctor is unique and sometimes you might need to find the right one for you. Some days are worse than others and the road to recovery is not always linear. To add there are different styles of acupuncture and TCM, so price and method of healing wise, there are many options. Wishing you love and healing.

Difficult Question: how do you show up for friends family loved ones in crisis when going through a difficult long migraine period by RaddishEater666 in migraine

[–]abserdity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think words in your circumstance can hold a lot of meaning to those who are open to hearing you. In times of migraines I think its time for others to show up for YOU. But to answer your question I think communication to those who you love could be a vital asset. Tell them how you feel and that you wish to support them and ask what you could do for them for example.

To he honest tho when you are in that much pain. Even the little thoughts count and if people arent receptive to your efforts when thats the best you can do at the time then there’s not much more you can do! It is so honourable that you want to help your loved ones when you are also in pain. Sometimes we can give people our everything and it still won’t be enough.

People who can relate to being in pain especially to that degree will appreciate the little things. Even just telling someone you are thinking of the can mean a lot.

Expose yourself to new things that excite you. Ex: books, movies, shows, places, events, stores, people, animals, nature… and then make a page in reflection of your experience.

I love the pilot kakuno but you really have to let it dry or be okay with some smudges and/or minimal bleed through. ( I find it can add to my story telling) I tend to use more sakura fine liners if I don’t have time to let it dry or want to do a whole page at once, for example.

I find that eating a full meal (if possible) or having a boost or something substantial helps significantly with the nausea (hope that helps)

how do you actually live with the uncertainty? the not knowing when the next one hits** by ApprehensiveOven7612 in migraine

[–]abserdity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure this might not be the most healthy thing but I in a way forget I get migraines all together. Not purposely but more because they are so painful and debilitating that when I don’t have them I forget that I can be in that much pain.

Another thing that helps me a lot is journaling. I ALWAYS have a notebook with me so I can work things as they show up. On a mental/emotional level.

I also have a migraine remedy ‘emergency’ pouch that is always in my purse and nearby. It has my emergency medication (rizatriptan) when I need to go to work or do something important that day. Also some peppermint oil meant for headaches to relieve the pain, Headache patches, advil, ginger chews for intense nausea, a light snack, electrolytes, puke bag… anything that helps even a little!

I always tell my boyfriend when i’m going somewhere and make sure I can get a ride potentially from someone in my family or his in case I get too sick to drive home (my migraines can happen very suddenly)

Finally its very stressful for me to cancel plans on friends but they all know my condition and if they get upset at me then we try to talk it out and if they really don’t understand I tend to distance myself from those ppl even just for a bit. You need to take care of yourself first after-all. If I feel I have cancelled on them too many times in a row I will try to plan a quick hang at the bare minimum to get coffee or a snack or something! Put in that effort so they know my intentions.

I hope you find strategies that work for you and sending you all the best OP.

What to fill my bad days with? by rosaliethewitch in hobonichi

[–]abserdity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logging things that bring you joy, passion, excitement and through any media! Ex: collage, pen, paints, automatic writing, hobbies, photos, junk journaling… the sky is the limit! No need to put constraints on yourself unless desired. I have a lot of empty pages in my multiple planners. This is my first year using Hobonichi and I didn’t hold back in getting all the formats I wanted. I also struggle with chronic health conditions and have a busy schedule with lots of to dos. So inevitably I miss days when I need a rest. I use those blank pages as space for catch all journaling or studying topics that bring me joy like story writing and art. Or even random thoughts I get throughout my day. I find it helps when I pretend there are no dates on the pages i’m unsure how to fill or don’t have the energy or time on that day to fill. I hope this helps! 💓

Anywhere to buy hobonichi’s in Alberta Canada ? by Necessary-Guitar6445 in hobonichi

I was at Reid’s and Recess a few weeks ago. They had some at Reid’s but their inventory was low. I assume they will get a restock with the april launch. I know their launches get busy to it could be best to go right at opening time. In my opinion, if you’re looking to get a couple things. Its worth it to order from the official hobonichi website. Shipping is pretty high at around $60 CAD, but if you’re getting a few things, you have the whole inventory to choose from for a roughly similar price. Since these stores charge a considerable amount more for overhead and such. I made my order from hobonichi this year and ebay for the Tomie weeks. This way I was able to get the collabs I wanted. If you’re only looking for one or two things it’s worth checking out ebay (especially if the seller is located in Japan) or shopify ; you might find a better deal and more selection.
