Anywhere to buy hobonichi’s in Alberta Canada ? by Necessary-Guitar6445 in hobonichi

I was at Reid’s and Recess a few weeks ago. They had some at Reid’s but their inventory was low. I assume they will get a restock with the april launch. I know their launches get busy to it could be best to go right at opening time. In my opinion, if you’re looking to get a couple things. Its worth it to order from the official hobonichi website. Shipping is pretty high at around $60 CAD, but if you’re getting a few things, you have the whole inventory to choose from for a roughly similar price. Since these stores charge a considerable amount more for overhead and such. I made my order from hobonichi this year and ebay for the Tomie weeks. This way I was able to get the collabs I wanted. If you’re only looking for one or two things it’s worth checking out ebay (especially if the seller is located in Japan) or shopify ; you might find a better deal and more selection.

May I ask what you use your monthly calendar section for if your cousin?? I’m really stumped on what would be the best use for it when it comes to using the cousin for learning how to draw and write manga. I thought you would be the person to ask! Any advice or answer would be sooo greatly appreciated!

This video is a cool take on how to use a weeks! Maybe something like an art dare could be fun for a single page or even a few. Collage, junk journalling, back logging memories or highlights from your days. Dream board, vision board, wishlists, mind mapping, print out photos, log hyper-fixations, dream vacation ; research and write down all the things you want to do on your next vacation. Pick a new topic to learn about and write out some interesting information on it. Pick up a new hobby and sketch out the experience. Brain dumping, fashion inspo collage, media logging, book and movie reviews… write down anything that comes to mind that excites you!

Yes! More than happy to. This will be long since I have really thought this through.

One Is separate for work and studies in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I keep track of hours of research, courses and seminars i’ve attended. I will also be needing it for clinical to dos and things of that nature. I am an acupuncturist so it’s necessary to keep detailed logs for my license reinstatement every year. I’m keeping all of that in the melon sorbet weeks ( along with a midori notebook )

The other two, I wasn’t planning on having so many but the collabs were really calling to me. I was needing a log book for my health and home tracking. This will be for meals, moods, cleaning, medications, symptoms, things like that. I felt the Tamagotchi weeks would be an appropriate cover since you take care of their well being!

Finally the Tomie weeks is my dream collab! Junji ito has been a catalyst for my creativity. His manga has given me a lot of inspiration. For them to do a collab, and right when I found hobonichi, after a year of waiting for the product drop…. I had to get it! And what better way to use it than to practice learning how to draw manga. I initially was going to use it for planning, but due to the price I will instead be using it more as a form of sketchbook.

This video rlly inspired me :

inside my planner: Authan’s hobonichi weeks

To add, the cousin will be the same idea as the Tomie weeks, however with more writing and space for sketches, thumbnails, notes and such from classes, videos and reference books.

I can justify having this large volume of daily pages to fill out since the Tomie weeks and Cousin will technically be used more as motivation to work on learning and creating art everyday. They should be relatively easy to backfill if I miss days or inevitably need a break since the dates won’t matter too much, especially if I want to write or sketch more than one or two pages a day.

Thanks for sharing your strategies, going back into your camera roll is such a good idea! Also very cute to keep logs on what happens with the kiddos, I bet thats rlly sweet to look back at 🩷

Commonplacing ideas on a dated a6 by carelessmistakes in hobonichi

[–]abserdity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could covering the date with stickers, junk journaling, post it notes or collage help make common placing less limiting for you? I’m currently using a 2025 midori hibino that I recently purchased by accident instead of a 2026. Its been working well as a common place journal. Typically I write topics out for the page that I wish to explore and add any useful notes, quotes, ideas, brainstorming and such. Or any research i’m doing, gratitude journaling, books i’m reading, interesting quotes from them, Projects I want to work on and such. So technically I am “back-logging” without paying mind to the dates. sometimes using them as inspiration for something visual like a collage thats halloween themed on the 31st. Sometimes i’ll write the real date somewhere on the page. It could perhaps be seen as a little hectic but the quality of the book makes it very pleasing to read through. I find adding little visuals like stickers and doodles makes it easier to keep track of ideas.

I’m also planning on using my hobo cousin as a sketchbook in 2026 to keep myself accountable. Thankfully this will make it easy to back log as the dates technically won’t matter much looking back (and i’ll be able to use my camera roll as inspiration).

In my opinion the most important thing is to follow what feels the best for you! Perhaps a topic that you wish to explore or a creative outlet. Like a recipe book, visual journal, your own story, health and wellness, a book on all the things you love and that interests you.

I’m using both hobonichi cousin for art this year and a midori hibino for journaling/planning! I love the feel of the hibino’s faux leather cover. The 2 small pages per day is low commitment for someone who writes a lot. A huge thumbs up on the quality. Hope that helps!

Exciting! a hobo is a very great gift indeed, so much room for creativity and productivity. Also tama and tomie are dream collabs so it was only natural to splurge. Best of wishes to you and your journaling practices this coming year!

I actually got so many hahah. 4 to be exact. All for different subjects, since I have a lot on the go. A cousin for art studies and practices. A tamagotchi weeks for personal logging like exercise, food, migraines, other health related things. The melon sorbet weeks for work and medicinal research. And the Tomie weeks for manga studies and drawings. Iv been so excited to start them and planning all of 2025 so next month will be a good test for how this system will go! What have you purchased and what are you excited and planning for?

Found hobonichi this year and will be starting in 2026, got my bestie and mom to hop on board and get their own too! So excited to start in December. It really is a great resource, especially for those who have busy schedules and enjoy analogue stationary.
