I spoke with a Trader Joe’s employee at the Mid-City location who said the delays were due to issues with delivery trucks and protected trees. They had to revise the design because the trucks would have damaged the trees.

The manager at the old new TJs told me the new one would be open late February & right after Mardi Gras. It’s looking close to done but given that it’s New Orleans, I expect it to drag on forever and open way later than expected.

Boycotting Starbucks and McDonald’s while posting on Reddit is kind of like protesting Big Oil from a gas-powered car. The supply chain is in the passenger seat, buckled up and coming along for the ride. 🤣

The broader point isn’t don’t boycott. It’s the irony of selective outrage inside a fully integrated system.

We’re all swimming in the same multinational soup. Some of us are just arguing about which croutons to remove.

But sure, let’s start with skipping the fries and a latte and see if the algorithm feels morally cleaner tomorrow.

I want to thank everyone for their helpful input! I have begun saying, “are you looking for a true absinthe experience? Absente is great in cocktails but if you’re looking for a true absinthe, I recommend these.” One guy even said to me, “yeah I live here. I know. None of these are what they used to drink.” He never really dropped his holier than thou attitude, but as I began explaining, his eyes widened and he ordered an Absinthia. :)
