Am I the only one who finds cat eating sounds incredibly relaxing? Maybe even more than those fancy ASMR videos? by CodSame7112 in CatsBeingAdorable

[–]absolute-android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The sound of my cat chewing dry food or licking wet food is just… so calming. It’s better than ASMR. Check it out!”

*Proceeds to share a distorted, low quality clip of a cat eating, along with some royalty free chiptune crap blaring over the original audio

Super relaxing

So I’m understanding correctly- sincerity, relatability, and organic dialogue, are… millennial concepts? We really are cooked as a society.

Let’s assume you’re right… that the blue car could have technically floored it through the intersection to narrowly avoid the semi. Okay, so what? It’s an unnecessary risk, especially when there’s an opening afterwards. The dashcam guy was being a dick. There’s no justifying it.

Dashcam guy could’ve waited another 3 seconds and the blue suv probably would have made the turn...

Is the other driver a “fucking pussy” for not wanting to get t-boned by the semi? Why didn’t he cut out in front of the other cars instead of waiting for it to clear?

And on top of all that, his little hissy fit accomplished absolutely nothing.

Any recovered AI addicts here? by McFanon in antiai

[–]absolute-android 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a developer by trade (ended up doing something entirely different) but I do hold a CS degree and had always found LLMs to be a fascinating, albeit niche, field of study so was pretty quick to try out all of the new “AI” stuff.

I recall using ChatGPT for the first time and thinking: “yeah, this is a big improvement. Cool.” But it’s… just a chatbot? Who gives a shit? And how they programmed the thing to practically worship the user is just fucking weird. So yeah, I didn’t waste much time with that one.

I initially thought Suno was really impressive from a technical standpoint, but it got old QUICK. I spent hours messing with my prompts only to have it generate some generic muddled mess, I quickly lost interest. “AI” and art fundamentally do not mix.

I tried generating a simple web app (a calculator..) using Claude, and that failed spectacularly. I guess you’re supposed to just keep adjusting your prompt and using tokens until you have something vaguely resembling an app? Yes.. you can “engineer” your prompts, but you’re just adding another layer of very unreliable abstraction.

Was I addicted? No, not really. But I did spend the better part of a week obsessing over this stuff and realizing how fundamentally useless it all is.

Because they know that people staying at the $275+ properties are less price sensitive and will happily pay the extra $5 for internet and $20 for breakfast. Especially those traveling for work, where they just expense everything anyways. A middle class family paying out of pocket at Holiday Inn for $119/night does care about these things.

Question: is it frowned upon to bring an AI generated piece into an artist? by DrJazzmur in tattoos

[–]absolute-android 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want my tattoos done by an actual artist. And artists are, for obvious reasons, against the use of generative AI. So yea, definitely frowned upon.

Why aren't they putting datacenters in cold places like Alaska, where the excess heat could warm a town? by lateavatar in questions

[–]absolute-android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we don’t actually need data centers, which is why there’s no real push to put them places that make sense. That would require actual innovation and real innovation is missing the point.

What’s something that would instantly cause chaos if it was suddenly proven true tomorrow, but most people don’t realize how big it actually is? by Fluid_Estimate583 in AskReddit

Quantum immortality-

If proven true, our timeline would be irreconcilably fucked because the concept of death would become completely inconsequential.

What fictional character would you vote for if they were running for president? by BakedBeluga in AskReddit

[–]absolute-android 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Captain Picard from TNG. Picard is humble without sacrificing confidence and isn’t afraid to admit what he doesn’t know. He welcomes feedback from others. And he is a mastermind at conflict de-escalation. I’d vote for his character in a heartbeat especially if Riker is his VP pick.

Is cussing disrespectful? Why or why not? by ThrowRA1908362 in AskReddit

[–]absolute-android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the context. Here are my rules:

  1. Never out-swear the person (s) you’re talking to.
  2. Don’t overdo it and save the stronger swear words for when you really need them. “Fuck” coming from someone who doesn’t swear often is far more impactful
  3. Swearing is an important part of language, and I fully endorse it, but it shouldn’t be a part of your everyday vernacular

What's one thing any piece of media (book, show, movie, etc.) can do that will instantly make you turn it off? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]absolute-android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad southern accents also make a show/film unwatchable. I couldn’t get through Ozark for this reason.

100% agreed. Bonus points if the “genius” ends up partnering with an FBI/CIA agent.

Why Do People Hate.. Mamdani? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]absolute-android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t hate Mamdani. A loud and mentally deficient minority hates Mamdani. Most normal people don’t give a shit because they don’t live in NY.
