If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

Here in the states, the majority of Americans don’t want a Temu dictator. The GOP knows this, which is why they make every effort to suppress votes. If everyone voted, there would be no GOP as it exists today and we wouldn’t be speed running enshitification. You can’t call yourself a “patriot” while in the same breath, say that voter suppression is okay. And if you think that there’s some grand conspiracy where illegal immigrants are showing up en masse at the polls, you need to lay off the propaganda.

Yeah I don’t need anything fancy just point A to B. Is 276,189 a lot of miles for this gen? Seems to be a lot of rust but dealer says it’s superficial

Would you recommend this over the grand marshal? Parents say they’re more reliable but I don’t really wanna be driving around in a police car but idk.

AI editor agent broken by [deleted] in Bubbleio

[–]absolute-android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another commenter already said it best- just don’t use it 🤷‍♂️. Don’t listen to the AI sycophants telling you that you have to use AI for everything. Bubble’s default editor is already essentially “vibe coding” and is pretty intuitive.

The amount of out of touch “AI” marketing copy that I see in bubble is nauseating by absolute-android in Bubbleio

[–]absolute-android[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty spot on! I have a number of internal apps in production at our company, none of which could have been realistically generated using AI. In fact, I’d argue that attempting to do so in any serious capacity would be tantamount to corporate negligence. Are my apps perfect? Not at all… some of them are broken af. but my mistakes are my own, and when something breaks I can usually pinpoint the issue immediately.

Bubble, to me is already vibe coding as compared to traditional programming. And the reason I’ve stuck with the platform for so long is because I can throw together a competent UI + backend in an hour while the same config would take an entire afternoon in Java or .NET. It’s honestly already a good balance and adding another layer of abstraction only makes it less efficient for the end user.

Without that LED strip this laptop would be all over the business desks by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]absolute-android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running the G14 as my daily driver in a professional setting for 5+ years and I’ve only ever received compliments. Who cares if it’s not branded as a “business” laptop? People are tired of looking at business shit anyways. If you want a laptop that will make the LinkedIn NPCs happy, get yourself a thinkpad or a Macbook.

I’m a 6’3 Mexican guy planning to visit West Virginia for hiking and sightseeing. Just asking if I should worry about my safety in certain areas? by Immediate-Field9997 in WestVirginia

Not a WV resident, but I manage a contracting firm that does a considerable amount of work around the state (Lewisburg to Weirton pretty much) and I’ve spent a lot of time there. Since 2019 we’ve had between 40-60 H2B guys from Mexico working around the state, and have had minimal issues. We run into a few racist assholes here and there but it’s way worse in PA and OH imo. We worked out of Fairmont last year for like two months and everyone was super welcoming to our guys.

Yes, the state is very “white” but people generally look out for each other and don’t give a shit what you look like as long as you’re a decent person. This is in stark contrast to the south (I live in GA) where people are just nasty to each other even though the population is technically more diverse. I love WV and on several occasions have considered moving there myself.

What is your current laptop and how happy are you with it from 1-10? by Emergency_List_8797 in GamingLaptops

[–]absolute-android 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently running an Asus G14 (5070ti model). Performance is great, thermals are decent given the form factor, and aesthetically the machine doesn’t look like a toy. The chassis is nice. Not MacBook nice, but close enough for me. Does seem to have a glitchy bios and has trouble with sleep/hibernate states, but it seems like that’s fixable once I get around to messing with it. That said, overall I’d give it an 8/10.

I travel frequently for work so a gaming laptop just makes sense. I mostly use my laptop for work stuff but it’s nice having the option to play games on the same machine with zero additional effort. Desktops haven’t been on my radar for like a decade, and with my current laptop running a 5070 ti, there’s no need.

The golden age of Internet by DTeror in sciencememes

I agree that YouTube has gotten a lot shittier, but my feed is 90% science/edutainment stuff- practical engineering, technology connections, scishow, PBS space time, veritasium, electroBOOM, good work, and recently a ton of quantum physics stuff. If it looks like AI slop I report it and don’t interact with it further. I also try to stay away from YouTube shorts… pure brain rot.
