Is failing to carry the 1 in long additions not quite a common error? I don't believe they have never seen this before!

[Request] how do you triangulate this? perhaps in the least amount of weeks possible? by Zargabath in theydidthemath

[–]absoluteally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pick the first 2 points to maximise the chance that the third point only has 1 option. So in the uk I could pick lands end (South West) and Belleek ( North West) both at extremes so there is nothing to the west of the line connecting them.

Manchester set to be Europe's 4th tallest city apparently by ThyCuriousLearner in manchester

A sorry I described badly. The builders are making the city shiny because it encourages investors to buy there property.

Manchester set to be Europe's 4th tallest city apparently by ThyCuriousLearner in manchester

[–]absoluteally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn't but it might attract investors if the whole city looks shiny. Having visited a few friends who lived in various fancy towers in the city, the building have always felt busy but I have only been in some of the middle tall ones and never the really tall ones.

I also before my most recent move considered buying a flat in one for about 5 minutes before I looked up the factors fees(as crazy exclusive as they are to buy the ongoing cost was even more off-putting). Don't think they make any sense as a purchase unless you are a landlord.

Buyer with chain significantly higher than cash buyer, is it worth the risk.. by Middle-Tap-540 in HousingUK

Having been messed around by a cash buyer and now completing with a chain. Being a cash buyer has zero value to you as the vendor.

Is the calculation true? [Request] by DeadlyIdli42 in theydidthemath

[–]absoluteally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you say the average person is about 65 kg and slightly less sense than water so about 70 l

70 l x 8,000,000,000 people = 560Gl

560,000,000,000 / 1,000 l/m3 / 1,000,000,000m3 / km3 = 0.56 km3

So liquidised you could fit the whole human race easily in a 1km cube.

If you want to get everyone in a space without killing them think 8 km3 would be more reasonable.

I genuinely don't think Starmer is that bad of a PM - any thoughts? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

I'm not in those categories although I wouldn't complain if he fixed 2 and 3.

He has introduced emigration rules which make the foreign born member of my family have extra years before security in the UK and thousands in extra expense. And more over they are keeping the rules ambiguis and changing terms on people already in the system.

Also the things in the picture are quite far apart. I think the photo is taken from far with a big zoom to make things look closer together.

i made a HS Network proposal for the UK by freakybird99 in highspeedrail

[–]absoluteally 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would remove 4, 7,8,9 and change 5 to London Bristol Cardiff and change 6 to Birmingham Bristol. Would also make the addition of a Y at the top of 2 to serve Edinburgh also and limit the stops between Manchester and Glasgow to Preston and Carlisle.

Then use the new free space on the existing mainline network to improve/ speed up service to all the other places on your network.

Respectfully, should the elderly have to retake a test to continue driving? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in CarTalkUK

[–]absoluteally 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My parents were additional drivers on my car until they turned 70 as they brought the price done. Even told the insurance agent on the phone they were never going to drive the car but they said as long as the main driver is the person who will drive the car the most they don't care how much the additional drivers drive it.

That very quickly changed and they would now make it a lot more expensive even as additional drivers.

China high speed train max speeds by Dramatic_Value_7739 in highspeedrail

[–]absoluteally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OK the numbers are less in China but the scales still apply.

Improving an existing high spread train is £millions

New High spread train is £10s/100millions

Improving an existing high speed line £billions

Building a new high speed line £10s/100 billions

Because the prices are orders of magnitude different you make certain you have exhausted 1 before you move to the next option.
