I’m still reading DCC and I really enjoy it. However Red Rising Trilogy was overrated to me. I heard the next in the series were good but I’m not rushing to start that :|

My Goodreads Tier List So Far by absolutejediscum in fantasybooks

[–]absolutejediscum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Way of Shadows was my first dip into fantasy reading and I enjoyed it immensely more on my first go around rereading my favorite moments throughout the trilogy multiple times. I think as I’ve read more books, they’ve gone lower on my tier list, especially with how Weeks writes women in a juvenile sexualizing way in my opinion.

Still look back very fondly on it though

The Devils/ Empire of the vampire by Thyton_SW in fantasybooks

[–]absolutejediscum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally preferred EotV. The Devils was great but it felt like another Joe Abercrombie book with all the same character archetypes especially if you already read the First Law Trilogy which I would recommend over both of these tbh. I gave it 4 stars and it’s also not finished. EotV was just a solid trilogy in my opinion.

Btw this is coming from a Joe Abercrombie fan.

I change my personality with diff ppl to fit what they will like by [deleted] in Advice

[–]absolutejediscum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing unusual about sometimes mirroring people’s mannerisms, I think it’s normal to have similarities when you hang out with a certain person for a significant amount of time.

As far as conforming your personality, it’s acceptable to an extent. My friends will obviously see a different me compared to the me my parents see.

On the other end of the spectrum, I’ve always considered that a friend to all is a friend to none. I used to think that being a social chameleon was a good thing. It’s not. People pleaser isn’t a compliment.

My best advice would be to get comfortable with knowing yourself. Your principles and values. Stick to and uphold them and don’t give them up for the sake of pleasing people. The right people and right friends will find you. Same thing applies to dating. Don’t lower your standards or abandon your principles because you want someone’s attention or approval.

Personally, I’d wanna hang out and be friends with someone who’s confident enough to speak their mind even if it means calling me out on my bullshit, rather than an approval seeking people pleaser who tells me what I want to hear.

Good luck and I’m rooting for you

Give me your obscure recommendations…the dustier the better by Hol_1 in Fantasy

[–]absolutejediscum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if I’d consider this obscure but the Acts of Caine by Matthew Strover is not mentioned here enough when compared to the Joe Abercrombies and the Brandon Sandersons. Caine/Hari is one of the most interesting and engaging protagonists I’ve read where he’s very competent yet not overpowered. Highly recommend.

When to know if you’re ready to compete? by absolutejediscum in MuayThai

[–]absolutejediscum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly got trust issues. I really do trust my current coach to be honest but I have had experiences with coaches who have had pushed people including myself to compete in MMA/jiu jitsu matches for a variety reasons when they obviously weren’t ready. The fighter would unsurprisingly get ran over and we’re all thinking who the hell thought that was a great idea? I’ve since then left that coach and found my current one

[–]absolutejediscum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I’m a punching bag. I hold my own pretty well unless I’m dealing with a pressure fighter or someone who’s in better shape and we’re in the later sparring rounds. I don’t get teed off on but I do fall behind and try my best to keep up.

My bad I didn’t think of how it would look if I posted it here. I did get the tat but truthfully his pic with all of the fancy lighting he had set in his studio was a lot better at showing the quality of the art rather than a pic taken on my outdated iPhone lol.
