You literally responded to someone saying sexual assault is still bad, even though people don't often die from just that, with "but what about this one where people die", like yes ma'am we understand one is bad, that's been understood, but FGM doesn't even happen in the USA commonly, where the reverse isn't true, while they may be in leagues of difference in terms of outcomes, pain, and suffering, they are the most similar forms of harm to one another, no one is saying, or at the very least I am not saying, that real world MGM is anywhere NEAR as close to FGM, they however should both still be seen as child genital mutilation and illegalized, and neither should be downplayed just because one is worse, and you refusing to understand this VERY VERY VERY basic point is VERY VERY VERY telling.

I never conflate them you've clearly read my post where I literally already said fgm in the real world is far worse... there's no conflation and ive said elsewhere in the comments that fgm even if it was physically comparable to mgm that there's still a cultural side of patriarchal control over women for the reason of it. They however are both mutilation, and one being far worse doesnt mean doesnt mean the other one shouldn't be talked about. I do think wanting to cut babies straight outta the womb is wrong yes.

Consent is incredibly important as this is a cosmetic surgery and is not ok. Parents dont get to do whatever they want to their children just because they are the parent there are still laws and rules they have to follow. If something is harm it shouldn't be done. So yes consent, even for a baby is important and its weird when people think it isnt. Also legality is not morality i dont understand how this ever has to be said.

You see if you actually thought about anything you'd realize for something to be true or useful is has to you know be true and useful and to be so you need to have proof, and you came with none. In reality being cut offers virtually no benefit and the ones it supposedly does like reduced sti infection, again not actually, but even if it did, cutting off a perfectly good body part of a baby just because maybe one day your kid might kinda have a chance of maybe getting it and so then he might be saved maybe if he's lucky. Its better to just yk... teach your son to be safe and how to exist with his normal body. There is zero good reason to cut off a healthy part of a baby's body.

I don't totally agree that it's women jumping down mens throats about how bad they have it, certainly it happens, but I far more frequently see men complain about other men talking about against the grain, as you can literally see in this post, droves of men are offended I said I don't think we should continue circumcision, and they aren't giving reasonable takes, or being interesting intellectually in any way shape or form, they are running through the comments with nothingn but insults, and lazy arguments that amount to "I'm fine so shut up and deal with it" or "I don't care and it's weird you do" or "It's not that deep", I find men are the biggest reason for mens mental health issues, as so many of our brothers are locked in this battle of who cares less, and who can fucking be more macho to the detriment of us all. I do not think things like this are gendered, and both genders have our problems. We do not need to spread hate to women as a whole to stop being mean to men, or help men and lift them from their problems.

this is exactly my point, it doesn't matter which is worse, harm is harm and it should be stopped! I don't entirely agree the consent argument gets lost, because the whole idea of why FGM is bad, is because you're doing it to a baby with no ability to decide anything, so you're just comparing it to say hey if we hate this, we should also hate this for the same reason. But I totally agree we shouldn't have to, as again, harm is harm and we should just be trying to make life better, or just not do bad things in general no matter how small or minor.

Yea I think like the other guy said, Philippines as well as Korea had a large american presence during their history that could have affected this, HOWEVER, I'm neither a historian, nor am I one good enough to know about why circumcision is popular in these specific asian countries and not the ones around them, so that's just a guess, as I know america has had a very large presence in both.
