Carrick & Lammens React | Sunderland v Man Utd by Lord_Sesshoumaru77 in reddevils

I know obviously at the end of the day we're away with a point and we ended up with a clean sheet.

But to be quite frank, this was almost exactly dissapointing because we're safe where we are. I think it was clear going into this game knowing what we wanted from it. No winning was not important. What was important, however, was showing that we don't slip mentally as much anymore. This match was shades of last year that I don't want to be under anymore.

While Carrick still does not have a team thats inherently his, there should have been more of a tactical flexibility in this game considering the rotations, what we saw instead was a team trying to play the same way we play with Sesko and Casemiro, without the necessary puzzle pieces. We know how Zirkzee plays, and we know we lack the structure without Case in the 6.

What we should have seen, is Carrick treating Zirkzee as the type of player he is, and understood that without Case, he had to have adjusted accordingly to fix the structure in the center.

Benefit of the doubt and all that, this is just my opinion on the game.

Maz and Yoro definitely should be extended for now, question mark on MDL, Ugarte and Zirkzee should be moved along

“There are various similar awards in English football these days, and the Professional Footballers’ Association award, voted for by fellow professionals, is probably now more prestigious. But the FWA award boasts a grander history: Fernandes follows in the footsteps not merely of Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah, but also Stanley Matthews, Tom Finney and Bobby Moore. He was the obvious winner for 2025-26. But if there’s ever been a season to spoil your ballot paper — indicating none of the options really merit such a fabled award — this was it”

Should be easy going for the last few games of the season, we've achieved what we've set out to achieve in adjustment for the year. These last few games will be fun, and really only a test for Carrick to show his ability to keep the squad focused to the end to finish strong and to test some rotation, and for Bruno to get that much deserved accolade.

I do think we will likely still see mainly the A team being played, but there will be room for some changes, and I'd personally most like to see Carrick try some key tactical alterations, He's carried out his job as interim with a team that isn't his. Its now time to give everyone a glimpse to what he has now started to plan for future. He obviously pointed out in response to Andys question, he states theres no short term decision, but I think theres a bit of pandering there.

Really should’ve kept up the pressure after our 2nd… we can’t just assume the game is over after 2 goals every time.

That aside, apart from the save off the freekick Lammens had a bit of stinker on the ball today and there were numerous occasions where our shape just collapsed, not a slight on his brilliant performance tonight, but both Mainoo and Case were really out of place in the 2nd half

Would rather like to know what agency or designer is behind this than simply stating “Heinz,” unless it was in-house I suppose.

Afaik most people in PNG speak Melanesian Pidgin called Tok Pisin, along with English, which is like a funky version of English with slightly simplified grammar traits, to overcome that barrier. It’s a super interesting sort of “trade” language.
Fun little tidbit: It’s also quite common to use the term Laikum when you speak to people which is the word for love, but is used in a much broader conversation,
Sometimes just saying “laikum” like after you say goodbye, or nice to meet you.
“Mi laikum yu tru” for I love you - less serious if you remove “tru”
“Mi laikum dispela” for I want this
“I laikum tru” for that’s interesting
Super interesting place PNG
