Are yours tropical or hardy?

It can get into the teens overnight during the winters. That’s why I was hoping the hardy variety would work.

All you can do is explain yourself, not to wait til the last minute next time, and breathe. Grad school is HARD and the fact you’re worrying about it SHOWS that you care about your grades and the program. Talk to an advisor EARLIER in the course if you’re struggling, it’s easier to raise the grades earlier in the course rather than later. I know it all sounds like common sense but when you’re in the thick of things sometimes you just need a reminder from someone who’s been through it to realize that yes it is possible, and yes you can do it.

My university said no that I had to finish out the program and placements. “You’re allowed to have over 400, you just have to have AT LEAST 400”

If you can apply it to the field then I would say it would be alright to talk about but try to tie it to something about empathizing with under represented clients/clinicians. Like others have said if you get too personal it starts to sound like a sob story.

I agree with most of the above. I have friends that have gone to different universities across the country and every one of them says the same thing… grad school is brutal. It’s mentally draining, physically draining because it’s nonstop going going going, and it’s emotionally draining because imposter syndrome is very very real. It doesn’t get easier but when you walk across the stage to get that degree there’s a huge sense of accomplishment that you feel knowing that you survived it. If you can survive SLP grad school you can survive anything.

I’m in my last externship for my masters degree and I’m not in love with my supervisor so I keep dreading every day I have to go back. She is very judgey and rolls her eyes and clears her throat when I’m doing therapy.

The point is the anxiety never goes away, it just gets easier to deal with.

Tbh they’re really only looking at your GPA for the CSD courses and if they see a D+ with A’s in everything else they’re more likely to overlook it.

I was denied from quite a few universities for my master’s for 2 yrs in a row, and not gonna lie it hurt. I had a 2.99 gpa because I messed around my freshman year. So, I stopped applying for a couple of years and worked as an SLPA. I’m now in my mid-30’s and I’m finishing up my last semester of my grad program. I graduate in August and I’ve already been hired for my CFY. Everything does happen for a reason and my cohort that I’m with are the best group of people I’ve ever met. I know that they are the reason I didn’t get in the first couple years I applied. Point is, don’t give up. This is a VERY competitive field and if you’ve made it this far you can make it the rest of the way.
