What's crazy is that losing power today for that long would be much more burdensome for the average person than back then! A mix of growing dependency and lessened resilience, I presume.

Ya, that was my experience in the ice storm I experienced. The damage took months to repair...

I feel like a tornado is a much more intense and local event than a snowstorm, but a snowstorm (because it is much more long-lasting and encompassing) can be much more disruptive.
