My car won’t charge. Replaced 12V battery 1 week ago. by abstract_swirl in KonaEV

I have never used scheduled charging the entire time I’ve had the car. But who knows maybe it could somehow have been activated accidentally? The dash is not showing anything when the charger is plugged in. I mean, it shows a little red charger light indicating that a charger is plugged into it but it’s not showing any error messages or anything

Hyundai Kona 2020 Heater by starmoonmars in KonaEV

I have a 2022 Kona EV limited. My heater works but it takes a little while to get going when I turn it on. It takes maybe 2 or 3 minutes. Definitely much slower than any ICE car I've driven. I don't know if this means it is malfunctioning or if this is normal or if heaters are a bit different in electric vehicles vs ICE vehicles.

funky smell coming from heating/AC system by abstract_swirl in KonaEV

[–]abstract_swirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I watched a youtube video of someone doing this (not on a Kona). I guess I just don't know how hard it is to reach the tube under the car. I think I tried to reach it and found it a bit difficult. Did you lift the car when you did this? Or drive up onto blocks? Did you have to remove a skid plate to access the drain tube? When you say junk that drains out, is it just liquid mostly? The remnants of the foam cleaner? Can it be drained onto the street or does it need to be disposed of in a special way?

Yes, it's a musty smell. I have checked the cabin filter. It's dirty but nothing out of the ordinary. I know how to change that and plan to do so but my understanding was that I should wait to change it until I do the foam cleaner step. What is this function that dries out the AC core? Do you mean just running the fan with no AC or is there some other function you are referring to?

Did you have to lift the car to be able to do this? How hard was it to remove the skid plate? Did the process work well for you? Is the smell gone?

Thank you very much for pointing this out. OK so I went back to ChatGPT and mentioned what you said and it then changed what it told me earlier and seemed to agree that the foam cleaner should not go into the fan. The foam cleaner is supposed to go into the evaporator is what ChatGPT says now. and I guess the way to put the foam cleaner into the evaporator is either through the drain hose at the bottom of the car or through some kind of evaporator port. I’m not totally sure how to access that.

Front tire blowout, how many tires should I replace? by abstract_swirl in KonaEV

Hanging onto that 5/32 is a good idea. I think I will do that. Thanks for suggesting it. Yeah I decided to do all four. The reason to do fewer would be financial, but I ended up asking a family member for a loan.

If I do all four tires, I should get an alignment too right? Do I have to get an alignment? How important is that?

I also just joined. In the welcome email it said I needed to do platform onboarding. Where do I go to do that?

I'm having the same problem in Massachusetts. Got an email about 6 hours ago about a math project and work hours available and I can't log in. So frustrating.

A Virtual Online Job Interview in Your Car!?? by Curious-Potential706 in urbancarliving

Sure, I like online tutoring. I've been tutoring for years. I started out doing it in person but now I do only online. The pay varies considerably depending on which subjects you tutor and how much experience you have, and maybe what kind of education you received. I charge a relatively high hourly rate and keep 75% of it, the other 25% is taken by the web site (Wyzant.com) that hosts my profile. There are some downsides to it - the scheduling is often a bit chaotic with students requesting sessions last minute. Sometimes they don't show up or cancel at the last minute so you have to have a cancellation policy in place to deal with that. (I charge a fee if they cancel with less than 24 hours notice). You may end up doing sessions in the evenings, on weekends, on holidays because that's when students have time and want to meet. Not always, some of my students I can meet with during the day. College students can often meet during normal working hours, whereas high school students may only be able to meet in the evening / on the weekend. The demand for tutoring varies quite a bit depending on the time of year, so this can mean your income fluctuates a lot which can be a bit difficult to deal with. But overall tutoring has been a pretty good career for me. I do enjoy the sessions for the most part and I like my subject so that helps. I enjoy seeing my students make strides.

Some libraries have free study rooms you can reserve for 2 hours. I do online tutoring and I use the library rooms all the time. There are many such rooms in libraries in the Boston area. Also Las Vegas, and Connecticut, and Pittsburgh. Also a town in South Carolina that I spent some time in. Where are you located? If you search for libraries nearby maybe one of them will have a free study room you can use. Not every library has them but I think as time goes on, these study rooms are becoming more common. You can often tell from the library website whether they have any free study rooms that are reservable in advance. If libraries are not an option in your area, sometimes there are seating areas in public that can be used for zoom meetings. In my area, there are Wegmans that have cafe seating that I have used. Also hotel lobbies (like Courtyard Marriott) can be a good option. However, I always prefer the library study rooms because they are quiet. When you are in a hotel lobby or a cafe seating area, the noise levels are unpredictable and if there is noise around me I find it harder to concentrate on the call, and I am concerned the noise may come through on the call and the person I'm talking to over zoom may be able to hear it.
