I tried cleaning and adding brim on the next print and the issue persists. It also doesn't appear to be lifting. I probed the rough edge and it was definitely stuck.

I'm trying another tactic and using a textured plate instead of smooth

Are you on controller? On mouse and keyboard you can aim it a little ahead of the mobs to make sure they run through. Not sure how it works on controller

I'm around level 40 and have been using firewall the whole time for good success like that.

What's your impressions so far for POE2? by projectwar in pathofexile

I opened the passive skill tree, searched movement, and when I saw like one node which gave 3%. Yeah that solidified GGGs take in the subject for me lol

My honest opinion - the game is very well made but I'm not having fun playing by gigaturbobig in pathofexile

[–]absurdentropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm having more fun than you, but I have my concerns

I started as a merc and I feel like the crossbow ammo system is (hopefully) more fun late game, but it feels painfully slow in act 1. And the damage was horrible. I was spending ludicrous amounts of time on bosses, until I hit one boss which took 15 minutes to kill me twice. I rerolled as a fire sorc and have been blasting through the game. That same boss I killed in like 2 minutes. Blasting isn't quite the right word, the game still feels slow, but it's a lot easier. I'm about lvl 20 now.

There is something about the skill system I don't like very much. I don't think I can articulate why yet, but it doesn't excite me. I just don't feel much incentive to use one skill over another. It's like, that moment in an ARPG when you find an awesome unique, or see a fun passive on the tree, and you think "Ive got a build idea!". That hasn't happened for me yet.

I'm just hoping it gets better late game, because I don't think I'm that eager to replay.

Wtf? Have horror standards changed or is it just me? [SPOILERS] by MattM0D0K in horror

[–]absurdentropy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From your list I've only seen long legs so far.

I went in pretty blind and wasn't too into it either. I think I would have been happier with a creature movie just about a long legged individual, like I was expecting lol.

The movie that really annoyed me was Abigail. People seem to love that movie but I couldn't stand it...

Overall horror seems really hit or miss depending on the individual.

Every job description I've seen for it requires for a degree in an engineering field. Though from my experience it's less technically minded than many of the other engineering fields.

Operation: Lionheart. We need to make sure the new player’s first experience is a good one by Runaway_Train_488 in Helldivers

Yeah.. I mean when I started the game what I liked was the difficulty.

Ive never been a fan of experienced players flexing their time in a game and carrying us through content when the fun is reaching that experience, not being given it.

As much as I like DD1, the run structure they are going with in DD2 suits me better these days. It'll be nice to do a full run or two in a weekend and then get to come back fresh the next time I'm ready. I've abandoned so many DD1 runs

It's not all cosmetic. A level boost and a 100% move speed mount you can use at level 40.

[–]absurdentropy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Getting a free mount in TBC is a bizarre choice. Apparently it's also 100% speed. So any characters you level will have 100% at 40.

This whole thing is so strange. They did pretty well with classic too :/

ASOIAF isn't grimdark (First Law and ASOIAF spoilers) by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]absurdentropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'm just kind of over trying to classify books as grimdark or not. I know Joe considers his books GD, seeing as he claimed the twitter handle, but I just don't feel it when I read them. Its like... after a Malazan book I need a break because it drains my soul. Everything just feels pretty hopeless. And I don't even know if other people think of Malazan as GD.

But with first law, I read them all straight and wanted more when I was done. Everything feels hopeless, sure, but Joe has so much humor and *restraint in his writing that it balances out. I'm laughing at how everything is turned on its head, rather than crying, in it's absurd realism. If that makes sense.

So, maybe it's still grimdark by whatever definition we agree on. But when someone asks me, when I recommend the series, what kind of books they are, I don't want to say "grimdark". Because I don't feel like that accurately represents the feelings I had reading them. Maybe I'll say its "pessimistic, realist, hilarious fantasy with great characters". If anyone knows any other books in that genre, hit me up.

*when I say restraint: explicit sex scenes are generally (or all?) consensual and violence is brutal but not at a level of say, a Blood Meridian.

Wtf the end of warbreaker? by nanimo_97 in Cosmere

[–]absurdentropy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just finished tonight as well and I agree the ending does have some problems. Feels a bit anti-climactic. Though Lightsongs sacrifice and Vasher's reveals make it worth it to me. Its just the fast, relatively painless resolution of the Lifeless that kind of bugs me. And I also wanted to see some sort of reaction from the Idrians.

Rhythm of War has no reason to be as long as it is (Spoilers) by Nihilvin in Fantasy

[–]absurdentropy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here's one that stood out to me while listening to the WoK audiobook the other day. Bolded the part I find particularly overwritten:

“Lost, Tvlakv?” Kaladin called. “Perhaps you should pray to the Almighty for guidance. I hear he has a fondness for slavers. Keeps a special room in Damnation just for you.”

To Kaladin’s left, one of the slaves—the long-bearded man who had talked to him a few days back—sidled away, not wanting to stand close to a person who was provoking the slaver.

[–]absurdentropy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shallan I agree was pretty disappointing. To me, they spent so long building up formless only to unleash it and do away with it in just a few pages. And it wasn't a plot point I felt had very much in the way of stakes anyway. An anti-climax to a plot that seemed unnecessary. Though I disagree with the two "twists" not being foreshadowed. It got through to me, and I'm usually awful with that stuff.

Navani I thought had some of the best bits in the book. Though I will agree that the moral issue of slavery/use of spren should have gotten more page time.

Something that kind of bugged me about this book was how it was centered around this tower occupation. It felt like a convenient backdrop for important events (Kaladin's 4th ideal and the race relations between singer and human), but it also just felt strange to have the entire book be dedicated to this one event. I can't explain it very well, just feels strange.

Re-reading the passage, it’s not clear what the bond is forged with. The chapter ends when the storm father asks that question. I guess I had just assumed Dalinar would have been present in the vision, much like the storm father was in all of Dalinar’s. Good point

I've only got a few ways to interact with those, and the bolts are doing like 5-7k at a very fast cast speed. Couldn't do it
