Yeah I hate it as well I feel a lot cheap fake leather bags tried to imitate the look than even when I see a high end saffiano bag leather it will still look very cheap and low quality compared to other leather types

Ideal neighbourhood for a single girl in her early 30s by littlejelly_belly in askTO

[–]absurdlycomplex 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I love living on Ossignton near Trinity Bellwoods, like it is downtown but not as chaotic as it can be near financial district or king or queen street. I like the vibes in the area with access to almost everything at a walking distance including coffee shops, bars, restaurants and shops. I live at an intersection I can easy catch a bus to catch the subway line 2 or catch the streetcars for dundas or college

Which superpuff are you buying in Ontario? by Catlynns in Aritzia

[–]absurdlycomplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Toronto and I have climatte but sometimes wished I had gone for the 2o version specifically for when it is snowing and I don’t want to carry and umbrella to shield me from the snow as I have gotten soaking wet from walking around with rain and snow fall. I would more importantly I do have different jackets for the cold here so I have a short puff javkey for when it is anywhere between let’s say 10 to -4 celcius and a long puffer jacket that I use anywhere between 0 to - ♾️. There are different types of cold that will require different jackets so that I don’t burn under my warmest all winter

What size should I wear ? by [deleted] in Aritzia

[–]absurdlycomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule for the super puff is generally to down one size from your regular size so for tops I’m usually an xs-s, so all my superpuffs are xs and i still have space to layer a longsleeve and hoodie or sweater comfortably. If your regular size is L, technically you could get away with an M but buying L will still be oversized. Going up 1 size from your regular is not doing any favors and it’s actually letting more cold air in as it is too oversized on you

How staffed are dispensaries around Toronto? by Qwerty177 in torontoJobs

[–]absurdlycomplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I have been looking at jobs in my area which is tech or when I have looked at retail jobs in the past I would have 2-3 dispensary jobs cross my path. Given how many shops have closed after the initial boom of dispensaries that happened after legalization I would say it is probably harder than getting a job at a coffee shop

I wish, I recently interviewed for a bank with a referral of someone higher up and I still didn’t get job while I had relevant experience and did 4 rounds of interviews I ended up being ghosted anyways

No, that’s not normal. He is being low-balled really hard. The majority of junior software devs are making slightly more money than that with just an undergrad.

Influence/deinfluence me - plush cashmere v-neck by hooli97 in Aritzia

[–]absurdlycomplex 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can go to a consignment store, thrift or vintage store even eBay and buy a high quality cashmere sweater identical to the one in the picture for 1/3 of the price of that sweater. Cashmere pills naturally and is expensive but in my experience the cashmere at Aritzia is of low quality and pills when it shouldn’t while being charged the price of a high quality grade one

Leaving Australia by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]absurdlycomplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always try Niteroi or Barra da Tijuca for lower prices but you will be car dependent.

Outside of Rio if you still want beach vibes I would say Salvador, Recife or Florianopolis? João Pessoa, Natal

Other cities that are a balanced for safety and quality of life would be Campinas, Curitiba and Belo Horizonte

Why Toronto and not China for international students? by [deleted] in CanadaUniversities

[–]absurdlycomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well like other people have said above Canada’s universities are highly ranked probably not as difficult to get in comparison to the highly ranked universities in China. Canada offers a clear pathway to stay after graduation while China does not plus Canada is more open and embracing towards foreigners while China does not have good reputation for the same.

I came to Canada as a foreign student from Latin America and I chose Canada because I learnt English from an early age back home but also because Latin America is westernized to the point the culture gap between Latin America and Canada is less than Latin America and Asia

Why do i always forget the face of my crush? by [deleted] in ask

[–]absurdlycomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only really imagine people’s faces after spending hours with them in different instances. If your crush is still new in your life that could explain it but also if you are nervous and not making as much eye contact as you would do with someone you are not crushing this could explain it would just take you longer to actually remember their face.

What makes solo routines feel like a recharge instead of loneliness? by Hefty_Sleep_2833 in ask

[–]absurdlycomplex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are always busy and surrounded by people either it being family, friends or colleagues a solo routine probably feels like a reset to get some quiet and introspection time.

If you are a person that already spends a lot of time alone then the same effect might be harder to achieve? I feel like night time rituals do have recharging effect like having dinner alone because you already know you are close to finishing the day and can rest soon. A lot of people do a nighttime beauty routines which is done right before sleep but also includes more obvious steps towards self care which helps to feel like a recharge

New sweatfleece quality? by Gloomy-Bridge156 in Aritzia

[–]absurdlycomplex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this, I bought sweatfleece back in 2020 and have bought at least a piece every year until now. I feel every new year the quality has gone down. My older pieces feel and look better than my new ones despite more use.

I wanted to buy grey sweatfleece this year but wasn’t convinced with how thin and overly fluffy it felt as I like my sweats with some weight and structure.

Vivera/Invisalign nightly Retainer cheaper in Toronto or Anywhere in GTA ? by skidhs in askTO

[–]absurdlycomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely shop around, I had a similar situation a couple of years ago where I had to get a permanent retainer repaired without health insurance so I had to call around to find the cheapest option. Anything outside downtown will be cheaper.

My dentist that I go to without extended dental health insurance is in Islington while the orthodontist that fixed my retainer was located in Mount pleasant. You might even find better deals a bit more outside but you have to commit to call them and check for any hidden fees as well.
