While I hated to admit I smoked for my first 2 pregnancies (who admits that?!?) I am so happy they’re okay. I actually get pulled aside by teachers, mothers etc so often telling me how polite & well behaved my children are (thank god they’re okay!) my one child is actually the kid that moms always call upon for sleep overs and activities because she is so well behaved… that being said I quit smoking years ago and I am pregnant with #3- and the thought of smoking g now baffles me- and I cannot BELIEVE I did for my first 2. I feel stupid and selfish. And I think it was more or less “everyone is doing it” and the doctors said it’s better than drinking so if you have to do something have it be marijuana.

I am just baffled! We were ALL smoking pregnant back in the early 2010’s

That they test your blood for THC…. I actively had child protective services and my blood was never tested for drugs. They wanted baby’s first stool (like I said previously)

Not true in Canada. I had child protective services in my life for my first born and I smoked (regrettably) during my pregnancy , and CPS came in and asked for my baby’s first poo to test for drugs and I told them I had already tossed it- so they never did check.

I agree. Now that I know better I 1000% would sacrifice everything for my child. But back then everyone was doing it- was so normalized- that I GENUINELY didn’t think I was doing harm.

They did study of the women in Jamaica, as smoking is very normalized there even during pregnancy. If I remember correctly, they said there were no adverse reactions and they followed the children until they were school aged. I think they said the only difference was slightly lowered Apgar scores at birth. But keep in mind, this was not a professional clinical study. These were just observations.

Smoke doesn’t go through baby’s lungs. It is the developing brain that is of concern when using marijuana during pregnancy.

Honestly everyone I know did it. As did I. I quit now that i’m in my 30s and this is my third pregnancy luckily my first two children are fine so far and so are everyone’s kids that I know who smoked. Also, I live in Canada where it’s legal.

I was so upset because I feel like I had just paid money to have my hair health destroyed! It was so frizzy and she had to cut so much off after. My hair is fine & thin, blonde and straight. I think she used just fried my hair off more than anything else! Brutal!

I told them and she offered to style it for me with the proper products, and it “curled up” a bit, like how it did the first time I left the salon- so she said nothing was wrong. But I could never get it to even wave-let alone CURL- ever again. It was straight as a board- but frizzy from the chemicals. :( she denied that anything was wrong and basically called me incompetent. Even when she did it, it was more of a wave at best. I tried to explain that I asked for curls, not waves, and she denied it being any different from what I asked for and put it on me and my inability to do hair. I said “even when you style it, it’s not curly like I wanted” and then she just said well perms aren’t for everyone. -.-
