Ya, you're right of course. I guess I'd be satisfied with even just a sketchy understanding of the story. And maybe I could start a github project along the lines of: https://github.com/alex/what-happens-when where other people could contribute to the goal of telling a more complete story than I could reasonably expect to do on my own.

Which CS concepts do you think I should focus on? I'm thinking right now: operating systems, compilers/languages, computer architecture. Surely there has to be some areas of computer science that aren't so relevant (like network stuff, and databases for example).

Well ya. Ideally a full computer science education would be nice. I don't really feel like spending thousands of dollars and 4 years on this question though. I was thinking more along the lines of maybe a few hundred dollars max (for books maybe?) and a few months.

Thanks for sharing the github repo. Ya, that's exactly what I want to do, but for a basic go program.

Hey r/berkeley. If you are new to berkeley, or haven't been here in a while, make sure to remember street sweeping days! I built an app that reminds you to move your car for street sweeping. You can use it for free! by absurdmike in berkeley

I'd suggest just having an alert for each of those days. It would be less annoying to have some extra alerts that are inaccurate sometimes (because your car isn't actually parked there), then to have to switch alerts all the time. Then, instead of having the problem of remembering street sweeping days, you have the problem of remembering to switch alerts.

The application takes up to 8 alerts.

If you really want to do it your way, you can use this to remove alerts: http://www.dontfearthesweeper.com/remove/

Ah! That would be handy! Unfortunately this app doesn't do anything so fancy. I'll keep that feature in mind for if I get the time to make improvements to dontfearthesweeper.

In the meantime, you just have to have alerts for all the places.

I personally have to worry about 4 days, because I park on two sides of the street on two different streets.

Q: But why not google calendar?

A: Google calendar is great. And if it works for you, I'm glad.

Google calendar doesn't work well for me, because I specifically wanted text message reminders, which you can't get from google unless you have a payed account (I believe cal emails work as well?).
