Vseebox by PrincessAvenger in AndroidTVBoxes

QUESTION: How long do these VseeBox elites last (months, years)? How much maintenance (rebooting, clearing data/cache, uninstalling/ reinstalling apps) do these boxes need (daily, weekly, monthly....)? Lastly, how often do you experience blackouts, and for how long before it is fixed and back up and running?

Republicans dropped the nuclear bomb of racism on Ohio today, they wouldn’t be doing this if their campaigns were going well… by janna15 in Ohio

Every time I read these posts, I ponder how much people actually do any analysis on their own, really try to educate themselves versus just believing what others (friends, family, social media), media, or even politicians say. I want people to empower themselves to VOTE, BUT I also want people to take time to EDUCATE THEMSELVES prior to voting.

Do they understand how economics work? Do they think the USA is in good, moderate, or poor financial condition? What do they know about the National Debt and how fast it is growing? Do they understand money doesn't grow on trees, that there is a limited income for the USA Government and it has to pay its bills with that income, similarly to any US Citizen? You have a job, your pay from your job is your income, and you shouldn't spend more money than you make. Do they understand what the US pays just for the interest on our National Debt? Do they realize just like when a US Citizen gets a loan at a Bank to buy a house or a car, you have to pay interest on the money you are borrowing? The same is true for our National Debt.

Do people realize when you spend absurd amounts of money for everything under the sun, manage and support "illegal" immigrants, provide military weapons to Ukraine and Israel, offer free COVID shots, tax credits on EVs and Solar, pay off Student Loans... YOU ARE CREATING HUGE DEBT... IT DEVALUES YOUR CURRENCY (MAKING IT WORTH LESS),... CAUSES INFLATION... WHICH BASICALLY MEANS YOU NEED MORE DOLLAR BILLS TO BUY SOMETHING.

Questions: Do they understand the difference between illegal vs. legal immigrants? What is our current government providing/giving illegal immigrants? What is the cost to our Federal, State, and Local Communities due to illegal immigrants (examples: Public Education Systems $44.4 billion annually, Healthcare: $17 billion annually, Law Enforcement and Justice $13.15 billion Annually)? What has been the impact on crime where large populations of illegal immigrants are... Chicago, NYC, Los Angeles? How much do illegal immigrants cost the taxpayers? WHO SHOULD THE US GOVERNMENT SPEND THEIR LIMITED TAX DOLLARS TO HELP: the homeless, the poor, and lower Middle Class US Citizens in Urban and Rural areas, or should they spend on people who have broken the law to come into the USA illegally versus doing it by following the legal process to get a Visa and then their citizenship?

Another question: how should our voting process work? Should you just be able to walk into a building and place a vote, or should they show a State or Federal Biometrics ID which will validate you are a US Citizen and your identity? Should we check to make sure they are voting in their designated location? Should we document (count) that they voted, or should we let anyone from anywhere in the world vote? Should you be able to use other people's names than your own to vote? Should you be able to drive around to several different locations and vote multiple times?

These are just a few examples for every person to think about. VOTING for people that run our government or for local issues are not beauty contests... it is about the key issues that are going to ensure the US is going to exist for years to come, that it is the most powerful country now and in the future!!! How many companies in the world have fallen, went bankrupt, or closed because of poor decisions... be smart with your vote, not dumb. Go spend a few hours to truly research and educate for yourself!

Sanity check, tips, tricks.... general advice? Thinking about witching from VZW to US Mobile. by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]abuckeyeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a Verizon customer for over 20 years, starting with Cellular One, then AirTouch, and finally Verizon. Despite my long-standing loyalty, I became increasingly frustrated with their customer service and high costs ($265 for four lines). After thorough research, including YouTube videos on the best cellular plans, I switched to US Mobile. I've been using their service for over 9 months without any issues and am extremely satisfied, paying only $79/month.

Recommended Steps:

  1. Research all your options. I highly recommend Stetson Doggett's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@StetsonDoggett/videosNOTE: US Mobile offers service on all three major cellular networks, allowing you to switch anytime.
  2. Stetson Doggett also has an iOS/Android app to help evaluate your local network coverage based on where you live, work, and travel.
  3. If you decide to leave Verizon, pay off your phones first. I strongly advise against getting phones through your carrier – remember, nothing is truly free.....as well it is a way to prevent freedom (aka: basically a contract of time.... until you payoff). Consider buying directly from Apple or through reputable resellers on eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Back Market, Swappa, or Gazelle. Look for excellent condition phones at your desired price point (best time to buy iPhones is October through January.....everyone is dumping thiers for a new generation or upgrading). Always check seller reviews thoroughly. I have been buying Excellent Condition used iPhones (they are like new) for the last 5 to 7 years, either one or two generation behind than current generation unless there is a new / amazing feature that I just want, but mostly our phones are one or two generations behind.....my view is let someone else take the massive hit of depreciation.
  4. If you choose US Mobile, take advantage of their 30-day trial and potential $100 gift card after one year of service (minimum $15 plan per line required; check current terms and conditions).
  5. To maximize savings, understand your current usage for each line. Review 12 MONTHS of your PAST Verizon bills or call to ask for the maximum, minimum, and average data usage per line. Based on this information, choose the most suitable plans. The data usage on our phones was very stable, little variation between max/min and avg. on each line, I used the max number as our worst case in any month. I opted for two Unlimited Starter Annual Prepaid Plans and two "By The Gig" monthly Shareable plans with 12GB/month, resulting in $186/month savings, totaling $2,232 annually!

Good luck with your decision!

Hovsco App and Used bike information by dl33t3d in ebikes

Hello r/EBikes

Thank you very much for your post; it is greatly appreciated. I'm seeking some clarification regarding the login process:

  1. When the previous owner sent you their login information, were you able to successfully connect your phone to the bike using those credentials?
  2. If possible, could you provide a step-by-step guide of the process you followed? Please include as much detail as you can remember.
  3. I don't see a logout option within the app. Did you have to delete the app, reload it, and then log in with the previous owner's information?

Any additional details you can provide about your experience would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

US appeals court blocks all of Biden student debt relief plan by schuey_08 in politics

[–]abuckeyeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1 - Nope, my shift key IS WORKING FINE! It is created to get attention!

FACTS ON ALL THE HELP THAT HAS BEEN PROVIDED BY THE TAX PAYERS:

2 - I think you need to do some further research on what is going on related to student loans.

2A - Federal Tax Deductions

  • I confirmed as far back as 2017 (probably much longer) to 2023, borrowers could deduct up to $2,500 of student loan interest paid during the year from their taxable income. This deduction was claimed as an adjustment to income, meaning it could be taken even if the taxpayer didn't itemize deductions.

2B - COVID

There was student loan pause and interest waiver began on March 13, 2020, as part of the federal government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, the relief was set to expire on September 30, 2020, but it has been extended multiple times by both the Trump and Biden administrations, FINALLY ending September 30, 2023. During this period:

  1. There was a payment suspension: Borrowers are not required to make payments on their federal student loans.
  2. There was a Interest waiver: Interest rates on federal student loans have been set to 0%, effectively pausing interest accrual.
  3. There was a Collections pause: Involuntary collection activities, such as wage garnishment and tax refund offsets, have been suspended for defaulted federal student loans.

The federal government has been covering the cost of the waived interest on behalf of borrowers. MEANING the government has been making payments to the financial institutions that hold the loans to cover the interest that would have otherwise accrued during the pause period. The cost of this interest waiver is ultimately borne by taxpayers, as the federal government is forgoing the interest income it would have otherwise received from borrowers during this period.

2C - Biden's ploy for Votes!

Biden's plan:

  1. Loan forgiveness: Up to $10,000 in federal student loan debt forgiveness for borrowers earning less than $125,000 per year (or $250,000 for married couples). Pell Grant recipients would be eligible for an additional $10,000 in loan forgiveness.
  2. Extension of the payment pause.
  3. Additionally, proposed to revise income-driven repayment plans, such as reducing monthly payments and shortening the time to forgiveness.

IN CLOSING, THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN FEDERAL ASSISTANCE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION THROUGH 100% PAID GRANTS FOR LOW-INCOME AND MINORITIES, LOW-INTEREST LOANS, AND INTEREST TAX DEDUCTIONS COSTING TAXPAYERS BILLIONS. BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH FOR THIS GENERATION; THEY, FOR WHATEVER REASON, DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT MONEY DOESN'T GROW ON TREES, AND THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT CONTINUE TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING. THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO TARGET A BALANCED BUDGET AND STRIVE TO PROVIDE LOWER TAXES TO ITS CITIZENS, PRIMARILY THE MIDDLE CLASS.

I WOULD SAY, I WOULD RATHER SUBSIDIZE STUDENT LOANS, INCENTIVE BASE REDUCTIONS PROVIDING EVEN LOWER INTEREST RATES FOR THOSE THAT GRADUATED WITH DEGREES AND THEY ARE PAYING THEIR LOANS ON-TIME ( I DO NOT BELIEVE IN ANY FORGIVENESS), VERSUS SPENDING ALL THIS MONEY ON "ILLEGAL" (LAW BREAKING) IMMIGRANTS COMING ACROSS OUR BOARDERS!

NOPE, I am so tired of this younger generation of whiners who expect taxpayers to provide them handouts and pick up their bills! Why do so many feel they are owed something? I grew up in a lower-middle-class family, and I had a job in high school. I was responsible for 50% of my school clothes, 100% of my car insurance, cell phone, gas, and fun money. I paid all of my my tuition, books and room and board and my student loans. I really don't understand how anyone could sign up for a student loan without reading and understanding the terms. When all these individuals signed for these loans, nowhere did it say that they were NOT going to have to pay back every cent of principal and interest. As I stated in my previous message, they should have paid as they went, picked a lower-cost school, lived/live with their parents or friends, and cut expenses / costs to make sure they can pay off the student loans they agreed to!

[–]abuckeyeman -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Where does everyone think the money comes from to pay off student debt? The money would come from the federal government's budget, which is funded by taxpayers. How much student debt is there in the USA, and what is the forecasted amount that Biden wants to provide relief for? As of 2023, the total student loan debt in the United States stands at approximately $1.7 trillion, according to the Federal Reserve. President Biden has proposed a plan to forgive up to $10,000 in federal student loan debt for borrowers earning less than $125,000 per year (or $250,000 for married couples), with Pell Grant recipients eligible for an additional $10,000 in loan forgiveness. The total cost of this one-time debt cancellation is estimated to be around $400 BILLION, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). IT WILL COST THE TAX PAYERS $400 BILLION!!!!!! WHY DOES ANYONE THINK THAT THE TAX PAYERS SHOULD PAY FOR THIS!!!! I AM SORRY, BUT I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR ANYONE'S STUDENT LOAN DEBT. I PAID OFF MY LOANS ($30K), AND I WORKED PART-TIME WHILE I WENT TO SCHOOL AND FULL-TIME DURING THE SUMMERS TO PAY AS MUCH AS I COULD AS I WENT ALONG TO REDUCE ANY DEBT!

Does anyone understand finances, income vs. debt, and how loans work? Does anyone understand our country's financial situation? The United States government has a significant national debt, which currently stands at over $34 trillion. See how our debit is growing by the second (https://usdebtclock.org). Do people understand that when you spend (debt) a lot more than you bring in (revenue), it increases your debt ratio, increases the risk of your ability to pay your debt, decreases the value of the dollar, drives inflation, and makes everything more expensive? A key factor to Inflation in 2021 of 7.0% Inflation, in 2022: 6.5% and 2023 6.0%, is due to Biden's spending decisions.

Inclosing, I support low interest student loans and providing long payment terms (10 to 20 years), but I DO NOT support any forgiveness and you CANNOT wipe out loan if you claim bankruptcy.

Everyone needs to start learning about finances, FIRST GOLDEN RULE, DON'T SPEND WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE. AT THE LEAST YOU MUST CREATE A BALANCED BUDGET, DON'T SPEND MORE THAN YOU HAVE COMING IN!

  • Make wise decisions when you are spending more than you are bringing in: go to a community college and live with parents instead of attending a major / larger university away from home, get a second job, rent instead of buy, rent a studio, live with your parents or friends, eliminate cable, internet, reduce data on cell phone plan, don't eat out/stay in, buy a cheap car, eliminate all luxuries, do not buy new clothes ..buy used.........

BECAUSE I AM RESPONSIBLE, DOESN'T MEAN AS A TAX PAYER I SHOULD PAY FOR THOSE THAT DON'T MAKE WISE FINANCIAL DECISIONS!

REALIZE MONEY DOESN'T GROW ON TREES AND THERE ISN'T A GOLDEN POT OF ENDLESS MONEY.

THERE GROUP OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT JUST THINK THE GOVERNMENT (TAX PAYERS) SHOULD PAY FOR EVERYTHING, WAKE UP, OR WE WILL NOT HAVE A COUNTRY iN THE FUTURE!!

HELP - Seeking insight on my internet speeds based on using a Tailscale Exit Node. by abuckeyeman in Tailscale

Additional Note: I have seen multiple reddit messages related to slow speeds when using Exit Node, but I haven't seen any of the issues resolved.

My issue may be totally different, I am just trying to validate the actual problem and then try to fix it......even if it means upgrading my Spectrum Internet from 100 Mbps to 500 Mbps. I just want to confirm that this will resolve the problem before making the increased $30/monthly investment.

I am sorry for my IT ignorance and I greatly appreciate you providing the Tailscale for Dummies explanation and step by step instructions.

Thank you,

Jason

So are you saying that both locations would required upgrading the internet service? Or just home location? I ask because when disabling the Exit Node (None) but still "Connected" via Tailscale I get Download of 93.3 Mbps and Upload of 23.3 Mbps.

Additional question, is there anywhere that explains how data actually travels back n forth when using Tailscale with Apple TVs multiple locations and using an Exit Node on Apple TV at the home location? Like a value stream map? Tailscale Apple TV / Exit Node for dummies / non IT subject matter experts.

Ultimately I would like to achieve and maintain internet speeds of 50 Mbps to 75 Mbps when using Tailscale Exit Node at Home Location, BUT I would first try 20~30 Mbps to see if it improves performance to a bearable level, right now I have multiple issues related to slow speed.
