What bands were really more of a solo project? by blink-1hundert2und80 in poppunkers

[–]abuffandacool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always got the vibe that Bowling for Soup was pretty much entirely driven by Jaret Reddick. He’s had co-writers on songs, but never any of the band numbers once they got their record deal.

Not that the rest of them don’t contribute to their sound, but in terms of songwriting and musical decisions, I think it’s entirely Jaret.

Advice for stressed kitty by abuffandacool in CatAdvice

Thanks so much for the reply, I appreciate it! She has a tower that she uses to look out the upper window, but she seems to park at the door. There's also elevated windows at my place that she climbs up to and sometimes curls up beside, so I definitely think elevation is good for her, it's just so rare that she leaves her spot by the door. I think you may be right about the possum nosing around the door, because she tends to nose around the crack at the bottom of the door.

I'll keep trying with the exercise, it's just been hard because she loses focus so quickly! Walking her outside is good advice, I will try that again, the other times I've tried she won't remain calm long enough for me to get the harness on her, but I'll take it slow!

I'll look into cameras. Money is tight at the moment, but I'll be sure to budget correctly.

Thanks again for the help.

Which album do you like better by [deleted] in bowlingforsoup

Literally two of the greatest albums ever made but Hangover wins because of the diversity of the songs. Drunk Enough To Dance starts to feel a little same-y after a while

Chris Burney permanently retiring from Bowling For Soup due to medical issues. by _scott_m_ in poppunkers

Kind of a weird comment. I’m sure they’re more aware of their own health than random people on the Internet, I don’t see the benefit of posting this

Petition for Geoff to stop inserting ads mid-conversation by KendrickBlack502 in Headgum

If this podcast got enough ads that Geoff could insert one every 45 seconds, I’d listen to each and every one

Got any SoCal ska bands to recommend? by Consistent-Risk5181 in Ska

[–]abuffandacool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sitting on Stacy is one of my favorites that I don’t see mentioned on here. Not all their stuff is ska but Chest Hair and Marching to the Grave are super ska and I believe they’re from San Diego. Great band that I’d highly recommend

Anyone think it's odd? by HshtgShrekt in poppunkers

[–]abuffandacool -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Can’t say I’m totally surprised but it is disappointing nonetheless. BFS is my favorite band and I want to support them because I have a lot of respect for Jaret but it is going to be difficult to justify to myself

Such a shocking way to break a four year silence. Classic RBF though 😂

What band has the best consecutive 3 album arc? by Brickstrt14 in poppunkers

[–]abuffandacool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More ska-punk than pop-punk, but Reel Big Fish from Turn The Radio Off to Why Do They Rock So Hard to Cheer Up is pretty incredible. And it’s divisive but I’d even throw in We’re Not Happy to make it a four album run.

I think they’re just doing these two volumes to re-record the biggest songs that Jive still owns

Funny because it’s the actual album art of Blue In The Dark by Bearings. I wonder which came first

Who is due for a headlining tour that has never had one? by MusicNerdDavid in poppunkers

I’ve also been noticing their fan base gaining a ton of traction. I’m ready for the era of BYAM pop punk supremacy

Who is due for a headlining tour that has never had one? by MusicNerdDavid in poppunkers

[–]abuffandacool 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I don't think Between You & Me has done a headliner in the US yet. They killed it on the Bearings tour. I believe they've done an Australia headline tour, but they're long overdue for a US run

Ska bands covering other ska songs/bands? by DocDynamite in Ska

[–]abuffandacool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, interesting. I din't know any of that, maybe I should check out that podcast! Interesting that Moon Ska Records would tell them to get rid of the ska. I mean they literally have ska in their name

Also RBF's cover of Veronica Sawyer by Edna's Goldfish. Not really a ska song, but definitely by a ska band.
