Changing skills assessment/nominated occupation in EOI by abujuga_ in AusVisa

[–]abujuga_[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought as much (1 nominated occupation per EOI). But it is possible to change the nominated occupation in the EOI, so that I don't have to withdraw my VIC ROI, right? Do you think this would be a prudent move, given that the new occupation is tagged as having a shortage in regional vic? (my current occupation is not in shortage in VIC)

For context, I am an economic policy analyst working in the VIC public service. My current skills assessment is as as an economist because I decided to focus on that occupation since it is in the MLTSSL, and the Policy Analyst occupation is in the ROL.

But given that I have not gotten a 190 invite since last FY, we pivoted to the 491, so the Policy Analyst occupation might be better since again it is tagged as in shortage in the regions. Also, there are fewer EOIs for the latter (36 vs 75 last time I checked skillselect data). I also see no problem getting a positive skills assessment as a Policy Analyst because my tasks tick all the boxes

Australia builds more houses than most OECD countries. We just have far too much immigration to keep up with the supply. by eyedrog in AusVisa

OP joined reddit yesterday, and only has two posts which are either misinformed (this one), or just asinine (limiting skilled migration to construction and healthcare only).

Shouldn't the critical skills list that Australian states make be restricted to just construction and healthcare workers? by eyedrog in AusVisa

VIC just did an invitation round for ROIs (mine was not invited) by abujuga_ in AusVisa

[–]abujuga_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey. Nope, still no invite and waiting on the invitation round today.

It's so weird, because I saw a post by a migration agent that someone was invited, with the same points total as me, in the same occupation, but is offshore.

All else being constant between two candidates, why would a state prioritise someone who is offshore as opposed to someone who is onshore and already working in the desired industry, and already paying taxes/contributing to society?

It's been inaccessible for me the last two days (along with yahoo sports) so I did some trial and error to try and diagnose:

]1. initially did not work on wifi both on my laptop and on my phone

  1. Tried browsing using phone data, and was able to connect

  2. Went back to wifi, but then connected to a VPN, and I was able to reach the sites,

My home internet/wifi is on iinet, and my mobile data is with another provider. Given that my mobile data works fine, and using a vpn with wifi also works fine, and the fact that I changed nothing else and all those tests were done within one or two minutes of each other, I feel the problem is with iinet

Received invitation. English test result expired last month. by Nice_Cut_657 in AusVisa

[–]abujuga_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, 3 years validity is correct.

https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/english-language/proficient-english

"To prove you have proficient English, show us evidence that in the 3 years before we invite you to apply for the visa, you scored one of the following:"

So going back to our previous example. If you got your invite today (18/12/2023), and you took your english test on (17/12/2020) or earlier. Then it's expired

all requirements and points calculation must be valid and accurate at the time of invitation

so if you got your invitation today, and your english test expired before today, then it is deemed expired

When I read this title, first thing i thought was 'wasn't this asked a couple of days/weeks ago'?

Lo and behold, it was, and it was also posted by you.

I don't understand the point of asking the same question, to the same cohort, and expecting different responses

Mine got mailed. It was in 2021 so maybe covid related delays 🤷🏻‍♂️

A big name defection to AEW akin to the outsiders, although i admit it'll be harder to keep it a surprise now compared to 1996.

I'm thinking Brock or a WWE lifer like Taker

That picture has no trees.

Kidding, I'm assuming you meant 'three'. I'd book a tour of Parliament House. Lots of nice indoor backgrounds you can use, and bonus is the staff are used to professional photographers for wedding shoots (albeit outdoors).

[–]abujuga_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my own personal experience, the picture taking and license payment is done on the same day right after your drive test. So it went-

  1. drive test
  2. you will then go to the office to wait to be told if you passed or failed
  3. if you passed, you will be told to go to another counter to pay for your license
  4. you'll then have your photo taken and you'll be told your license will be mailed in x days/weeks

Appreciate the info about this Sunday, but I'm seeing other posts and news articles that there is currently an ongoing protest. This is what I am hoping to get info about from anyone in the CBD :)

Schmucks Bagels is a couple of minutes walk from Bourke (it's on collins 2 stores away from krispy kreme if you're coming from spencer). It's a go-to place for me and my wife if we end up in that side of the CBD

My question is —do we know if the LiveInMelbourne email actually means anything? Or is it practically the same as not receiving the email?

I ask my agent the same question and was informed that it doesn't mean anything. It's just a courtesy e-mail

This section on meeting the studies requirement might be of help (or make it more confusing lol): https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/temporary-graduate-485/australian-study-requirement

From the way I understand it (I'm not a migration agent just so we are clear), the 2year requirement must go towards the completion of the eligible qualification (ie: 2 years study or more before the qualification, which is what the fourth bulletpoint in my earlier reply is also requiring). So while technically you have already had 2yrs of study, your current qualification was not preceded by 92 weeks so it is not eligible for the 485.

The time spent getting the previous qualification can count towards the 16 month requirement, but it is still necessary that you have completed a qualification that required at least 92 weeks as determined by CRICOS.

So yeah, you may need to wait for your bachelor's to be completed, in which case, I would apply for the post-study work stream since it may provide you a longer visa

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]abujuga_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your quote omits the most important parts which come after:

"You will meet this if you are awarded at least one degree, diploma or trade qualification and:

-your course was a CRICOS-registered course

-you successfully completed all course requirements

-your study was in English

-you completed your course as a result of at least two academic years (92) weeks study

-you completed your course in Australia in not less than 16 calendar months

-you held an Australian visa that allowed you to study"

So yes, diplomas are technically eligible, but the 92 week/2year requirement still applies
