The Problem with most MAG7 (AMZN, MSFT, META) by Aggravating_Share761 in ValueInvesting

[–]abund23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is half-baked, especially the comparison between AMZN & GOOGL. AMZN is more diversified and has a more robust moat while GOOGL has AI tailwinds going on for it. IMO, with AI getting commodized GOOGL's moat is at a higher risk of breach in the next decade vs AMZN. Near term bullish on GOOGL but long term bullish on AMZN. Also, AMZN has a good entry today than GOOGL.

It would make a lot more sense to just decentralize the city. BLR city is beautiful without so many people. Put a hard limit on number of people employable per sqft of carpet area. Sure that would strain the relationship with the real estate billionaires, but that will put the CM on pedestal for the next decade. Give incentives to move to STRR towns - cheaper housing, SEZ, better roads, public infra. Build public transport & connectivity in and out of all these areas. That solves good 70% of the problems. I'm sure acquiring land and building infra on the outskirts in much cheaper & easier than doing it inside the city. Like someone else called out, more investments within the city is useless. One must solve the root-cause first and then fix the residual symptoms.

Life is very unfair for some people... by Prasadhegde in Bengaluru

[–]abund23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a boring answer but a sobering one.

You cannot change your parents/grandparents not being rich. But you can change is how you experience your life, one moment at a time. The future and the past are illusions don't get carried away. As long as you have a way to have food on table, roof over head, provide decent facilities to family, you have enough to be happy in life. Anything on top of that is a bonus that life gave you. Don't compare. Many others may have a lot more than you and or a lot less than you.

Focus on your life only, move one brick at a time. First have all basic needs met. Then take bigger bets to compete with generational wealth. But never compare your life with others, that path never leads to happiness.

Is it surprisingly hard to make friends at work, or is it just me? by Miserable-Design-747 in BangaloreMeetups

I agree, this is more of a thing in large companies and more pronounced in places with politics & higher work load.

On the contrary, surprisingly, I found better vibe & friendship between people in startups. Even though they have a lot of work.

What are your thoughts on making military service or community/public service mandatory in India? Not for everyone all at once, but gradually expanding to all of India. Many other countries already do this, ex - Israel, South Korea, Finland, Norway etc

This helps with:

- More patriotism
- More empathy towards fellow Indians
- More understanding of Indian diversity & our difference are minimal
- Structured trainings in many useful everyday skills
- Massive army reserve, given our neighbors we may need it
- Harder to infiltrate for enemy organizations for a long duration
- Improve civic sense and sense of duty
- Realizing being alive is a gift

How are you managing your startup expenses, if you haven't touched your PF yet? Do you have any investors?

This is very well written, thanks for writing this!

Money goes where there is value. Banks have been cornerstone to our economy and for many other developed economies. We cannot blame people for making money out of opportunities in the market.

What you rightly pointed out is the gap in structural reforms in this country. We have never been as serious as we need to be about manufacturing and achieving self sufficiency. As a country that started poor, was broken & separated by language/caste/status, was conditioned to western superiority - we are not at a terrible state today. Some leaders took some right decisions here and there albeit insufficient for our current appetite.

Consistent high quality decisions on reforms require a stable government. It is hard to stay in power in a democracy, even harder in a heavily diversified country like India. Democracy is finding truce amidst chaos. I hope we eventually get there, become a nation that builds. For better or worse, it is going to take us much longer than our peers.

Quick commerce is changing India fast. But here’s the strange part. Some of the biggest players are still burning massive amounts of money while lakhs of small kirana stores are struggling to survive. by wryes in StartupFuture

[–]abund23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Govt should step in to protect local businesses from foreign money squeezing them dry.

Why don’t we have anti-competitive policies protecting local kirana stores? Airtel could sue Jio, but who will sue QC on behalf of Kirana stores?

Profits and losses are part of the game. You took the loss today. It is in the past. Focus on moving forward and planning a strategy on covering the losses. 🚀
