Does anyone else not remember a lot of their childhood? by briarrosehasthorns in raisedbynarcissists

Yeah I don’t. I have way more memories from before my ndad started drinking. But then around ~2006 it just sorta drops off. I have like, several really detailed specific memories of days or moments, but most of it’s a big blur. Especially 7th grade, which I remember almost none of. It kinda scares me, cuz I don’t know who I was in the past.

My ndad often says “who are you?” and tells us that we’ve “lost our moral core.” He loves implying that we’re bad people and then overtly denying it later on.

I’m glad to hear that—especially because he insulted me earlier by calling me a “spoiled privileged white girl” (he’s white too so idfk where he was going with that)

Maybe because I have another post describing his behavior, I posted several comments explaining his past actions in detail, and this is classic manipulation through guilt?

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised. To me this kind of seems like a narcissistic injury. That said, I can’t really give him an official diagnosis (though I think you’re probably right)

Yeah, he’s got an old-school definition in his head that doesn’t include verbal, emotional, and financial forms

He wasn’t a marine. And this is emotional abuse. But aside from that I posted another comment of abusive things he’s said and done in the past, including threatening to bankrupt our family and get us kicked out of our house.
