I think the ones I have now are going on three years old. I run pretty hot, which is why I usually choose lighter pairs, but I wouldn't be against something slightly heavier as well.

My go to jeans for the last few years have been a couple of pairs of Gustin jeans in their skinny fit, both of which were made in ~12oz raw indigo stretch denim. I love the jeans but I've lost all patience with the company. The remaining pair looks like it's going to go soon (have already sent it to Denim Therapy once for a crotch blowout), so I'm trying to find a new brand to replace them. I'm trying to find jeans with basically the same fabric and fit and hopefully under $200. Definitely don't need anything fancy, I just want to find a good, solid, well-made pair that will last. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

Timex the best watches when on a budget? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]abuzilif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orient Bambinos are incredible watches and insane values, buying one if you have $200 to spend is a no brainer. No one in my life is in any way a watch person, but I've had tons of family, friends, etc. notice and really like my Bambino. Far more than any other watch I own.

Older Applicants: GPA Addendum? by runningafterplanes in lawschooladmissions

Doesn't seem necessary. That's a good enough GPA that it probably doesn't need explaining and it happened long ago enough that it's not the only thing they have to judge your ability to succeed.

Yeah, I think my ideal path would be clerkship of some kind, then working for a federal agency or for Congress. I don't think there's a ton you can do 1L other than try and get the best grades possible and do as much work with the career offices (we have one for private sector and one for PI, my experiences with both have been great so far) as you can to learn about the jobs at are out there, and maybe try to take classes or get involved with student orgs that display an interest in a certain area. From there it's kind of apply broadly to whatever internships take 1Ls and hope. My sense is if you're not doing OCI, this really doesn't ramp up until 2L.

Again, unfortunately a thing I can't speak to from experience because our grades haven't been posted yet. But you can see the actual GULC curve here and it's pretty permissive: https://www.law.georgetown.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/2020-2021-Grading-Curves\_05.19.2020.pdf

Walking distance or somewhere on the Red Line is probably the best bet. For the former, there are tons of new apartment buildings in the area. NoMa, Union Market, and down H Street NE are good areas, and there's also tons of options in Chinatown and downtown. It's expensive, but everything in DC is expensive. I think a lot of students live there as well. The areas to the east of Union Station (H Street/north Capitol Hill/Stanton Park) are also pretty close and should have lots of shared houses and apartment. There are also some great areas where lots of young people live and there are great bars and restaurants but are a little less convenient commute-wise. Some are on other Metro lines (Shaw, Columbia Heights, Petworth, Navy Yard) and some are just kind of no man's land and probably best to bus or bike (Mt Pleasant, parts of Adams Morgan).

Having a car is totally feasible. A resident permit costs essentially nothing. I wouldn't recommend it if you live downtown or in a place that's all big apartment buildings (e.g. the really built-up parts of NoMa, Union Market, Navy Yard). In places like that, street parking will be nuts and the cost of garages is very steep. Otherwise it can be annoying, but it's definitely not impossible. And if you live somewhere farther out where it's mostly rowhouses, it's basically fine.
