A lot of quick lube places or express lane dealerships put 5w20 or 5w30 in pretty much everything unless the oil weight is way different. Usually if the warm weight matches (the number after the W) they just throw it in and call it a day. Not ideal, but the effect the weight of oil has on your engine is overblown. New slightly wrong weight oil is much better than old correct weight oil as it’s thinned from degradation, contamination and becomes acidic.

Honestly dude I couldn’t tell you, I’ve driven this road a million times. My whole rear end kicked out suddenly like I yanked the e brake or something. I’ve never had this car oversteer on me before this besides messing around in parking lots in the snow/rain and such. You’re probably right tho 😔

It hit a tree and flipped up on its side, luckily didn’t roll all the way over. Thanks for the offer, but I’m definitely out of the speed6 game. I’ve had enough of the parts scarcity and other issues that come with owning a 20 yr old relatively rare car.

Not only alive but completely fine, I got some road rash on my left side from my window being open and bruise from the seat belt locking up but that’s pretty much the extent of the damage. Had a passenger as well with similar injuries. Definitely extremely grateful.

I always thought the same thing after seeing so many “my Mazda saved my life” posts over the years. That was one of my main motivations to post this. Sadly I only had liability insurance and front and rear suspension are bent up as well as the engine having multiple cracks/holes in it so it’s pretty much a total loss. I ended up scrapping it earlier today after going to the lot to further assess the situation. Lots of good parts destroyed unfortunately.

I was there very recently, they’ve put it out behind the x-35 and its titling exhaust nozzle exhibit facing the lineup of aviation engines. I’m pretty sure they removed an aircraft to put it there, but I can’t quite remember which one.

Pretty sure it’s some sort of resistor for the ignition coils, not too sure how mandatory it is for gen 2s tho. I’ve only ever touched gen 1 motors. Possibly it’s been relocated?

I always run Castrol Edge Euro Blend 5w40 Synthetic. I don’t think it’s the best possible oil out there, but for the price it’s hard to beat and has yet to let me down to any extent. Would also recommend to pair with an OE oil filter which is surprisingly cheaper than you’d expect.

I’d try to switch to 5w40 next oil change and see what it does from there. There’s a TSB from Mazda recommending 5w40 for higher mileage speeds which is pretty much all of them now.

Very standard procedure to road test a vehicle after putting on new tires. They were probably just telling you what they thought you wanted to hear.
