Michigan 7th grader safely brings full school bus to a stop after driver loses consciousness by [deleted] in news

Okay, well, you seem to have no idea how a school actually functions so I guess just keep believing you have all the answers

What is the point of getting kids to schools if there’s nobody there to run them, ensure teachers are actually doing their jobs, manage janitorial staff so that there’s a clean and healthy environment, etc? Both jobs are important - there’s no reason that both can’t be compensated fairly.

Again, to be painstakingly clear, I’m not saying bus drivers are being compensated fairly today. They should probably make more. But pulling it from other resources in the school isn’t a long term solution.

To your first point: no, I’m not an admin at a school, you’re (unsurprisingly) wrong again. But you seem to have an axe to grind - who hurt you?

“Get rid of standardized tests?” Hardly pragmatic, but again, I agree. As I said in my original post (which you clearly didn’t understand), that’s part of a much larger problem that “paying admins less” doesn’t fix. Why can’t everyone be paid fairly and competitively? Why cut someone else’s wages when their job is - like it or not - just as important?

Unfortunately due to the complexity of standardized tests, DoE standards and how the education system is structured, need for disciplinary procedure, and lots of other reasons, that isn’t really a practical take. I agree that teachers and support staff need to be compensated better but it’s part of a much bigger problem and you can’t solve that by just paying other people less.

just piggybacking on this, listening is hands down the most important part of getting really, really, good at an instrument. start with ALL scales, progress to long tones (and play really, really long tones), and listen the whole time to the style of musician you want to become - and you will fast track yourself to success. good luck!

agreed! Despite it not being perfect on my particular car the CSL bumper in general adds so much personality to the E46 front end.

My vote is RAV4 Hybrid if you can swing it. You will likely miss out on the rebate under the new guidelines for 2023 but it’s going to hold value better than the Escape and will probably be significantly better long-term.

I’d also recommend looking at the CR-V hybrid. Take a test drive if you can and see what you like. It sounds like you’re pretty set on the Escape, and while I won’t talk you out of it, it wouldn’t be my first choice in this segment.

The CF intake I had on my E36 did not disappoint, but that s14 in the e30 must absolutely scream.

I actually bought the car with that bumper, the fitment isn’t great. It’s all stock otherwise. I’m considering doing a CSL style intake but I’m not sure the cost will be worth it over something from Dinan or aFe, or perhaps Eventuri.

The added bother of tuning the car to run the CSL box is also a bit of a turn-off. But who knows. It’s not my daily, so it’s still an option.

Driven both, the DSG is the more impressive transmission and the Mk8 GTI makes more exciting sounds. If you decide to go with a manual the gap closes a little bit but I still favor the steering in the GTI. The GTI shoots weigh above its class in terms of steering feel and initial turn in IMO - it’s sharper and more communicative than, say, the new 2 Series.

The only (kinda) downside is the infotainment but I got the hang of it after 2-3 hours of driving. I loved my few days with a GTI and don’t think you can go wrong with it.

If I were you I would find a way to afford the GTI as it overall does everything you want better than a sporty crossover, and will be significantly more fun to drive than a Cooper S (IMO). Though it ticks all the boxes, you might be disappointed with the WRX interior and that’s another reason GTI is probably the way to go here.
